Black Pepper Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2002
I just wanted to say that, seeing as this recipe has no reviews, that I have had cookies very, very similar to these and they were GREAT! You would never guess they have black pepper in them. I was reluctant to make these at first but I was baking Christmas cookies with my aunt, who had made them before from a recipe in a Mexican cookbook. If this is a good recipe, then these cookies will tun out great. Don't be scared of the pepper!

Cornbread I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2001
I made this cornbread with low fat margarine in a cake pan in the oven, and personally thought it tasted great warm, but my family didn't like it as much as the sweeter corn muffins I made from a different recipe. I liked it, though, and will make it for myself again.

Cabbage and Apple Slaw

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2002
I'm not a coleslaw fan, but I tasted this and thougt it was pretty good. My family requested this a second time. A change from the traditional cabbage cole slaw. Note: I used half sour crea, and half light mayonnaise since I didn't have plain yogurt. Obviously it turned out great. A good, sweet (but not by any means overly sweet)recipe.

Chocolate Wafer Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2001
I made this with a peanut butter pie. it was perfect. I used reduced-fat nabsico chocolate wafers. Mmmm, so good. I liked the crust better than the pie, and the pie was GOOD. (Note: it's about 50 wafers)

Cornflake Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2002
I made these cookies because I had lots of leftover cornflake cereal. I am sorry to say that these did not come out well at all for me. They were on the dry side, somewhat hard and everyone complained they were too salty and did not have enough sugar. I even tried a peanut butter version and replaced the raisins with choclate chips. However, they were a very easy cookies to make and did not take too long.

Miss Beth's Yoghurt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2001
Good good good!!! This is so versatile and quick! I love messimg with recipes and this a cake you can do that with. I made this maple-flavored with maple flavor extract and used brown sugar. I'm going to try this again different ways, for sure!

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2001
I made this for dinenr last night and served it over vegetarian meatballs and white rice. It was quick ,e4asy, and very tasty. The ocnsistency came out just right, and it was sweet but stil ltangy at the same time. I used cider vinegar, but then added some regular vinegar to tone down the sweetness a little. This was very good. I'm keeping this recipe!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2001
I used fat-free cream cheese and reduced calorie margarine, and it still tasted great. I ate this with pasta shells and wished I had made enough for 10 more servings! The only thing was that I think it needed more garlic, I couldn't really taste it in this recipe. Just my tastes, though.

This is great tasting and perfectly spiced. Sometimes I like to add some liquid smoke for a change. Love this dish!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2001
It must have been me, seeing how this recipe got great reviews, but I scaled this recipe down to 6, to make muffins, and it didn't make a batter but a dough, and it only made four. The oil seemed to be too much (1/4 cup when you quarter the recipe.) But it is the same as other zucchinni bread recipes. Before i put them in the oven, I re-read the recipe many, many times, and I did everything exactly right. When the muffins were done, the taste was okay, but they were like pure oil. It has to be my fault, seeing all the five star ratings it got. But I know I didn't do anything wrong...I guess it just doesn't scale well (so, let that be warning....don't do it!)

Magic Cookie Bars II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2001
I made these on request of my father, they are his favorite cookie, he says. These are so bad for you it's not even funny...but from the little smidgens I had while cutting them, boy are they good. Pure sugar :). If you like this kind of thing, this a great recipe. They got rave reviews from my parents.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2001
I loved this cranberry sauce, thought it was ten times better than the canned stuff. Not too sweet. My family doesn't like cranberry sauce, except for my mother, and she ONLY eats the jellied canned Ocean Spray kind. I say she doesn't know what she's missing. Definitely keeping this recipe for next thanksgiving.

Chocolate Bombs

This were really deliciouis little things! I accidently used almond extract instead of vanilla at first, too, and it was an interesting and tasty flavor combination, try it. Also, the submitter of this reipe was right...the batter is hard to resist as well. Sor something so simple, these sure are good.

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2001
I thought this was kind of bland, but for my parents i threw on a lot of cheese and they actually liked it. I also thought it was a little heavy on the sage. I think I would only use 1 tsp next time (I didn't plan on a next time, but my parents said yes, there will be a next time for me to make this for them, so they liked it). I don't think it tastes just like a corn dog, but that could just be me. Try this, it all really depends on your own tatses.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2001
Even though these didn't rise for me (I'm sure it was entirely my fault), and came out kind of heavy, they had an excellent tate. They were so big, I wonder how large they would have been if they had risen. I will definitely try these again.

Pie Crust III

Great recipe, doesn't have all that saturated fat or trans fats like in other pie crusts made with butter, lard, or shortening (yucky). It turned out just lovely for me!! ;)
