Pecan Tassies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
PERFECT!!! My mom LOVES these cookies so the taste test will come later. However, as far as baking goes, these turned out beautifully. Here's how I did it... I used mini-muffin pans, a small cookie scoop for the dough, and an almost level TSP of filling for each. They rose up and filled each cup perfectly. It may seem like a very small amount but trust me, it's the exact right amount.

Neapolitan Bundt Cake

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
I've tried many recipes from this website and thought this would be a hit, too. Unfortunately, it was such a disaster. I was SO disappointed. What a mess! I will say that I diverted from the original recipe in that I followed another reviewer's advice to add one jar of strawberry ice cream topping to the batter for the pink color. It all went to the bottom of the pan! There wasn't enough chocolate flavor. Truthfully, the flavors all melded together, as did the colors, and it not only looked horrible but tasted horrible, too. Sorry, I tried:-(

Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
Oh wow!!! I HATE shortbread. I LOVE these cookies. I discovered Hershey's Halloween Kisses. They are candy corn-flavored (vanilla) and are most delicious! I thought I'd experiment for a party and make kiss cookies. I needed a plain butter recipe and chose this one due to its simplicity and rave reviews. Well, add me to the list! These turned out beautifully and are so yummy! I need to control myself so there are a few left for Saturday night's event. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Crab Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
After reading the reviews, I decided to make this salad for a reception this past weekend. WOW!!! It was easy to make, although a little time consuming (I did blanch the broccoli and used red, yellow, and green peppers for added color. The dressing I used was Kraft's creamy Italian - 1/4 C.) Everyone thought the salad was delicious and it was gone before I was able to get a second helping - Usually, I'm not a fan of crab, imitation or otherwise, but there's just something about this combination of ingredients, I guess! I plan to make this again and highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you!!!

Chili Rick's

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
I wanted to make a "different" chili. Since I love barbeque sauce, I thought this would be the perfect recipe to try. Wow! It made a lot - too much for my huge crockpot! (I had to transfer it to my canning pot.) Then again, I wanted leftovers to freeze for my lunch in the coming months. As for the taste, it is delicious. I only gave it four stars, though, because I think you could use a half-cup less of barbeque sauce and get an even better result. It was just a little overwhelming, even for a barbeque sauce fan. All in all, though, a great recipe and one that I will be making again.

Lemonade Pie III

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
Easy to make...Even easier to devour!!! Made for a BBQ and everyone asked for the recipe. I was embarrassed to admit it was so easy:) Only change I made? A gingersnap crust. I felt with the lemon-flavor it needed something a bit stronger-flavored than graham crackers.

Chewy Rolo Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
I have not made these myself. My sis-in-law mentioned them to me and said they are DELICIOUS!!! I will be making them soon. Anyway, I wanted to post so that anyone making this recipe will not be confused. You do NOT make the cake per the box. You just add the butter and evap milk. Follow the recipe from there. Hope this helps!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
WOW!!! This was PHENOMENAL!!! Easy to make and DELICIOUS!!! I made dinner for my boyfriend and I last night. I served this soup with "Absolute Mexican Cornbread". YUM!!! I made this recipe exactly as stated EXCEPT I added a half-can of green chiles AND a half-can of jalepeno peppers. It gave it a nice zing, which my boyfriend prefers more than me (It wasn't TOO hot!) Thank you:) Oh, I should, also, state that I didn't cook it as long as it states in the recipe. I made the chicken seperate and then shredded it before adding it to the crockpot. In total, I probably cooked this four hours.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
I love cornbread and thought I'd give this recipe a whirl last night. Having read other reviews, I decided to use a 1/2 C of butter and a 1/2 C of sugar. My boyfriend and I thought the cornbread was DELICIOUS but I have to disagree with the other posters. I think using 1 C of sugar would be perfect! Then again, I do like my sweets. I'm going to give this four stars for now and will make this recipe again soon with the entire cup. If it turns out like I think it will, I will give this five stars and will wish there were more to hand out! Thank you for such a delicious recipe:)

Powdered Sugar Cookies II

Reviewed: May 30, 2004
Okay, this is similar to the BEST cut-out cookie recipe ever invented. I don't doubt that these are great cookies! To make them into cut-outs, I use 1 C butter (no shortening) and I use 1/2 tsp almond flavoring. I'll try your version soon, as I love pecans and it's much easier not having to cut out cookies. Thank you:)

Chili I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
I decided to try this recipe for myself. It seems everyone has an opinion on it, how to make it work for them, how to improve it, etc. I decided to make it exactly as it was stated, except lessening the heat by using only two peppers. The coffee was provided by my neighbor since I am not a coffee drinker. I'm not a beer drinker, either, but I visited the local liquor store. The owner chose a dark beer from right here in Wisconsin for me to use. The results of this chili were FANTASTIC! I made it for a chili party. I arrived later than planned. Most of the guests had already eaten but when I left two hours later, my crockpot was nearly empty! Thankfully, I had saved some at home to eat the next day and to share with my neighbors. Thank you, Bob, for sharing such a unique recipe. I'll be making this chili often during the coming winter months.

Cornbread Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
UPDATE (10/16/10): Not sure if this product has been around for a long time or not but I just discovered the FIESTA-flavored Ranch Dressing Mix. I HIGHLY recommend using that, instead, as it adds a nice little kick to this recipe. Again, rave reviews last week at my cousins' chili feed. I just cannot get enough of this salad. I'm making it again today. WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! I can't believe this recipe tasted THAT good! I was going to a chili cook-off party. I thought I'd bring this along, too. I arrived at the party later than planned and most of the guests had already eaten. That didn't stop them from sampling this salad. I left two hours later and took home an empty dish. This is DELICIOUS! Not only is it delicious, but it is so simple to make. I'll be bringing this to every potluck from now on. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Rose for such a great recipe!!!

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
I'm still searching for the perfect cut-out cookie. However, I'm getting closer. This recipe is my favorite one, thus far. This cookie hinted of sweetness, which many people favor. I, however, like my cookies SWEET (Hey, if you're going to have dessert, it might as well be decadent!) These cookies were very easy to roll out and cut. My neighbor's young boys assisted me. Instead of the cream cheese frosting I opted to use the "Big Bird" frosting I've always used for our cut-outs since it guaranteed a frosting that always works well for decorating. (I was taking these to a party later in the evening.) As for cut-outs, in general, I like to mix them a day or two ahead of time. I then roll and cut the next day and bake them. The third day, I invite my neighbor's boys and my neice over to help decorate. It allows me to remain sane! Otherwise, there's just too much work involved.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
Fantastic Cookie! I wasn't sure about making a gingerbread cookie that didn't have molasses as an ingredient. However, I love butterscotch-anything and, after reading the other reviews, I thought I'd give this recipe a chance. I'm so glad that I did! YUMMY!!! Very easy to work with, even my neighbor's young children were able to roll these out and cut them. I served them at a Christmas party last year with many other cookies. These were the first to go and when I asked my guests to take cookies with them as they left, they all wanted to know where my "secret stash" of these were hidden. I appeased them by printing out copies of this recipe. Thank you, Kim for a delicious and easy recipe!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
This recipe is simple to make and so very delicious! My boyfriend LOVES French Onion Soup. I've tried making it before but it never tasted as good as in a restaurant. I think the difference was the sherry. This is the first time I used a French Onion Soup recipe with that as an ingredient. I truly believe it made all the difference. I would not leave it out. Thank you Lori for the recipe!

Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2002
I work at a B & B. I decided to make this coffee cake because I was craving rhubarb. Well, am I ever thankful this made two cakes! I served only 4 guests but they each had two pieces! Unheard of, at least as far as sweets usually go. This was DELICIOUS and then some. Thank you for such a wonderful and easy recipe. I will definately be making this in the future. Of course, I may also be tempted to try it with raspberries or strawberries...

Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2001
I was too sick to go to the store so I figured I would try to make my own chicken noodle soup. I didn't have a clue how but found this recipe. Thank you!!! It was SUPER easy and DELICIOUS!!! It cured my cold and pleased my friends and family, too. I will make it again and I have passed the recipe on to many others. The only negative I encountered was the lack of spices. However, I prefer my cooking recipes to be that way. I feel taste is unique to every individual and therefore, everyone can add their own spices to suit their tastes. Also, instead of cutting individual vegetables, I used frozen soup-ready vegetables (2 small bags). It made for an even easier recipe!
