100 Percent Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
Great for a 100% whole grain recipe. I halved it and did it in my bread machine on the wheat cycle at 1.5 lb loaf. Instead of all the extra stuff I just did flax. It's so fluffy, like store bought, but healthy!

Whole Wheat Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
They're not bad. I used maple syrup and added more cinnamon, which was fine, but they still tasted a little wheaty to me and were more thick, than chewy. I really wanted a nice chewiness to it, but didn't get that. Maybe it needs more butter or something?

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Delicious as is! I reduced the amt of pistacios and also used coconut oil instead or regular oil (just heated it to liquid first, then as directed).

Beetroot Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
The idea is fine, but mine was really runny and ended up being somewhere between a crepe and pancake.

Zucchini Apple Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
It's ok. I actually didn't do apple, but used apple sauce instead of oil and 1 2/3 c of 100% whole cane sugar (rapudura) instead of the two sugars.

Old Fashioned Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Yummy. I put 2 TB butter with 1/4 c. flour to make a roux. Then I added the chicken broth and chicken pieces. AFter 10 minutes, I added some steamed carrot pieces I'd had on hand. For the biscuits I added yogurt instead of milk and didn't cut in butter. Great.

Yummy! But dbl the crust and make two, or half the filling. And precook the potatoes a little.

Old-Fashioned Potato Pancakes

Pretty good, but a little bland. I added flour and some red pepper at least. Don't really need the parsley.

Hot Cranberry Tea

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Yummy! I cut back on the sugar to 3/4 cup because I prefer a little more of the cranberry flavor to the super sweet. OTherwise it was perfect!

Delicious. I added shredded carrots and chopped celery too. Reduce sugar to only 1/4 c! And used ground turkey. Add 1 T worcestershire sauce to the sauce and to the filling as well.

I baked them at $25 for 20 minutes and put chile verde on top. And used corn tortillas I'd oiled in a pan first. Yumm!

DElicious as is. I had to put mine in pressure cooker though, because the beans were still hard. Serve with cornbread!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
Good, but it's missing something. You could add pineapple in. And I wouldn't put the peppers in until an hour before the end or something because they get mushy. I also added 1/2 c water at least and had to stir the meat before the end so it was all moist.

Pumpkin French Toast Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
Paul liked it a lot, but it was a little bland because I just est. the spice.--don't est. and don't skimp on sugar. If you do, just put maple syrup on the bottom of the piece so it soaks up the bottom a little when you eat it (the top was plenty sweet).
