That's Me
About this Cook
I'm a geek, I'm a knitter, I'm a mother, I like dinner... I warned you I was a geek.
My favorite things to cook
Food... though I have been known to cook up some play-dough and sidewalk chalk in my day... this past weekend in fact. I like to cook in an inventive manner. I'll take the ingredients I have on hand and try and decide what will go good together. Most times I come out with a winner, but there have been times when it has gone horribly bad. My biggest problem is, when its a winner, I typically haven't written down what I did to repeat the process.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite cooking tradition was the day after Christmas when we'd help Grandmother pick the ham clean and make Ham pot pie. My grandmother was like me, she liked to invent recipes, but hers were most often misses... but the ham pot pie was by far the best I've ever had.
My cooking triumphs
I wrote a Slow Cooker cookbook for my friends one Christmas, and every year they have asked me to add on to it as part of their gift. Another triumph was me cooking all of my son's baby food. He is a great eater now (3 years old) and loves his fruits and veggies. His favorite is Broccoli.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, the scones... I was trying to make blueberry scones and forgot to put the blueberries in at the right time. The batter was all made up, and I tried to fold them in after the dough had already formed. I ended up with purple globby dough that was just bad. Worst part is... I ended up forgetting the blueberries a second time in the same day with the same recipe. At least that time I didn't try to add them in again.
