Pizza Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2002
okay recipe; doesn't remind me of pizza exactly. needs a little more to spice it up. regardless, easy to put together, although very messy when forming the balls -- i found that after forming about 10 balls, running my hands under cold water then going back to forming made it a lot easier (and less messy). as far as adding in the 1 cup of water, less is better -- i put in maybe a 1/4 cup and ended up having add in more baking mix to even it out. if you wet your hands to form and completely omit the 1 cup in the recipe, maybe it would all work fine.

Reuben Sandwich II

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2002
i like the idea of using a broiler instead of frying in a pan with a lot of butter. next time, i'll stick with 1000 dressing instead of the mayo/chili sauce combo. otherwise, an easy sandwich.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2002
just right amount of spicy. easy to prepare and quick to cook. i used frozen, peeled shrimp which made it extra quick to prepare. i threw everything into a large ziploc bag and made sure to turn it a few times during the fridge process to coat the shrimp really well. afterward, i threaded onto skewers and put on the george foreman grill (we don't have a real one yet) for a few minutes. served with rice, this was a filling meal.

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2002
easy and quick! i used pillsbury breadsticks instead, because that's what i had. it tasted fine (less buttery than the crescent rolls are). i added italian seasonings and garlic powder before i rolled them up, then put some grated parmesan over the tops after they came out of the oven.

Breakfast Pizza I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2002
i made a mess of the dish because i didn't have a pizza pan, just a cookie sheet (with a lip), so when i poured the eggs on, a lot of them just spilled out -- what i couldn't get back onto the "pizza" just cooked or burned around the sides. despite that, this tasted just like a quiche, but with a softer crust.

Lahmajoon

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2002
i've never had this type of dish before, so i wasn't sure what to expect. the combination of meat, vegetables and spices is good (i added a little extra cayenne). the bread is very simple to make as well. for a simple dinner/appetizer, this is a good recipe because it's pretty simple.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2002
my head wasn't thinking straight tonight while i was preparing this dish. i accidentally defrosted chicken breast tenders instead of breast halves; added in 2 tablespoons of garlic from my jar of minced garlic instead of 2-4 teaspoons like i wanted in the first place... but, despite all of the mistakes this dish turned out fine. i added more of all the seasonings, and like mentioned, added in minced garlic. i cooked it all in the pan for about 10 minutes total, then sat it in a warm oven for about 10 more while i cooked some rice. the chicken was very tender, even for the chicken strips. this tastes just like any other garlic chicken i've prepared before, but i was pleased with the extreme quickness of the whole dish. will add this recipe to the collection!

Pizza Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
this is quick and easy to put together. i added in some green peppers and sliced pepperoni to the mix. you could also add some sliced onion too! the dressing was tasty, not tomato-y at all. in addition, i took some boboli pizza crust, heated it according to package directions and then sliced it to serve alongside the salad.

Buffalo Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2002
This was an easy dinner to prepare. I served it with rice and garlic bread for a complete meal. For the coating, I left the shrimp in the bag for the 15 minutes, then shook them again (someone else suggested it) as opposed to laying the shrimp out on a cookie sheet in the fridge. My suggestion is to remove the tails, for simpler eating. And, instead of making the suggested "hot sauce" I just microwaved some butter with Frank's Hot Sauce -- worked fine.

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2002
very quick and easy to put together and make. tasty too! be sure to stir them after ten minutes and "drain" evenly on paper towels to take away some of the greasy-ness.

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2002
This is an easy and quick recipe. Definitely tastes just like a traditional corndog too! I omitted the celery and added yellow onions to the green, with some celery salt instead. Tasted fine. Also used beef hot dogs. If using, it's easier to put the ketchup and mustard over the top, as opposed to trying to dip. This is a keeper!!

Asian Flank Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2002
i marinated my steak for 24 hours, and it came out tender (well, as tender as a flank steak can be!). i omitted the orange juice like others mentioned, and didn't miss it at all. i used too much ginger which over-powered the other flavors, but it was still good. this dish was incredibly easy to put together and took no time at all to cook. i grilled it on my george foreman for about 8-10 minutes, checking to make sure it was cooked through and not burning. turned out great.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2002
this is very easy to make. after the 3 hours chilling time, i wasn't pleased with the consistency. so, i left it in the fridge overnight, and it definitely hardened up -- like i expected in the first place. it's very tasty, but in my opinion pretty rich -- it reminds me a lot of a creamcheese icing, actually -- you probably don't want to eat a whole ton of this in one sitting due to the calories!! i'd make this again, ahead of time, to allow for the extra chilling. the honey maid graham sticks are a great idea too.

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2002
this was a great tasting chicken dish. i ended up adding an additional egg yolk to the marinating. i reduced the bread crumbs to about 3/4 cup -- but, still ended up with leftovers -- so i put about 1/2 of those leftovers on top of all the chicken in the casserole. it resulted in a little extra crunch in the dish. i like this recipe because it's really easy to put together and extremely quick!!

Salsa Biscuit Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2002
i used "grand" style biscuits, boiled chicken breast tenders and "medium" salsa. i also added garlic salt, pepper and sour cream to the mixture. this was enough to eat as a decent dinner, since the biscuits were larger. but, i'd suggest using tortillas instead, like others have mentioned, since this tastes just like a chicken enchilada or chicken taco. very easy and quick dish to assemble.

Chicken Honey Nut Stir Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2002
this is a very simple and quick dish. i used a bag of frozen "stir fry" veggies, added in red pepper flakes for a kick, and had peanuts in the pantry so i used them instead of cashews. i'd suggest adding in the sauce before the chicken is entirely cooked, to avoid bland chicken. this recipe is very versatile -- you can add any veggies, meats, nuts you want. the sauce was good -- the whole dish reminded me of something you'd get in a restaurant.

Hoagie Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2002
this is a tasty, quick and easy recipe. i used pre-shredded lettuce and scaled the recipe down to 4 servings (and still had enough for about 8 sandwiches!). i didn't chop everything up into tiny pieces, which made it difficult for "dipping." therefore, we just put the mixture onto split hoagie rolls and ate it like a sandwich -- works perfectly for an easy lunch/dinner.

Reuben Sandwich I

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2002
i've avoided reubens for one main reason -- sauerkraut. we thought we'd try this recipe out, despite my reservations! this sandwich is really good and extremely quick. i tasted the sauerkraut first, alone, and it was horrible -- but, all the ingredients are together for a reason, and make a tasty combination. try this recipe, even if you're a little afraid! we'll be making this one again.
