I love to grill, so marinades are a major favorite of mine. I also love to take classic recipes and turn them on their ear.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom always tried to make things a bit healthier while getting a good bargain. She was never afraid to try a new recipe. I inherited that fearlessness and devotion to good, quality, healthy ingredients. I'm also obsessed with a good deal! Since I cook for 1, a lot of my recipes are meant to be either frozen or enjoyed in many ways over the course of a week - just like Momma.
My cooking tragedies
I once made delicious apple tarts and wasn't paying attention to the paper I was putting down on the baking sheets. I thought I was using parchment paper and grabbed wax paper instead. My best friend and I laughed so hard, we cried. You could flip the cookie sheet upside down and the base of the tart was stuck, like glue. The apple topping, however, was divine!
