Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Made this for Father's Day and it was a big hit with a huge WOW factor! The pudding mixed with the sweetened condensed milk tastes like a yummy mouse! Next time, I am going to throw some heath bar, other candy bar, or chocolate chips into the brownie mix before they cook for some added texture. I highly recommend refrigerating overnight before eating. Oh, this keeps well in the fridge for nearly a week if you don't eat it all the first try :)

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This recipe is flawless. I hope you'll follow it to the tee! If you have any people that don't like nuts, omit the pecans like I did for half the recipe. I have made this 6 times and everyone acts like they are better than Cinnabon! My only suggestion, double the recipe for frosting because people like to add on more :o)

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
I followed this recipe to the tee and it was awesome. Don't let all the other reviews on here persuade you to change the recipe, it needs no changes of any kind. I would highly suggest making this the night before you are going to consume it as the banana flavor infuses the pudding mixture and the pudding mixture turns to somewhat of a cheesecake! Oh, I served this at my hubby's birthday...I used the mini vanilla wafers and decorated the top of the dish to spell out 34 and then put candles all over it. Fun!

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Honestly, this is the best ice cream I have ever had. EVER. The creamy/icy ratio is perfect! The first batch we made, we did just chocolate chip and then the 2nd, we did mint choco chip. Both were incredible. we are using this recipe for all ice cream bases now. As for the chocolate pieces, I highly recommend shaving chocolate pieces off a bar of Ghiradelli Bittersweet Chocolate from the baking section in the grocery store. Use your potato peeler. This provides perfect texture and the bitterness of the chocolate counters the sweetness of the ice cream perfectly. YUM!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Awesome, full body recipe. I split this recipe into two and had half the batch in a slowcooker and the other half in a dutch oven on the stove. I made one really spicy and one sweet. To the spicy, I doubled all the spicy ingredients in this recipe-tabasco, green chiles, etc. To the sweet, I added 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar and 1/2 the spicy ingredients listed. All the kids loved the sweet and the adults loved the spicy...everyone was happy! YAY! I served with green onions, fritos and shredded cheddar. The color combo looked awesome!

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
These are an appetizer you can make if you have guests at the last minute (esp. guests with kids) You can keep pizza sauce in pantry, crescent rolls/cheese/toppings on hand in the fridge. I have tried pepperoni/mozzarella and jalapeno/monterey jack as fillings. Loved them! Try reduced fat crescent rolls, you can't even tell!

Teriyaki Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
This is the most unique pizza I've ever taste...very CPKish! I used a bread machine pizza dough, which is awesome. I then grilled one side of the dough on the grill for 7 min. Put the toppings on the grilled side per the directions. Then put back on the grill for 10 min until the feta is melted. FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS ON TOPPINGS, they are awesome, don't leave anything out!!

Veggie Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
I chose this recipe over the other 5 star veg pizza recipe because of the dill in the spread. As other users have noted, this makes the pizza! Don't fail to add that. I love mayo in these types of recipes so I did 8oz. cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayo. After mixing the spread, I chilled it for a bit. I let my dough cook 11 min exactly and it was perfect. I let it cool for 15 min away from the stove. Then I began spreading the cream cheese mix on top. It was a bit hard to spread but there was no sogginess. My veggies included grated carrot, orange bell pepper, green onions, broccoli, and campari tomatoes. I pressed them into the spread. I then chilled the pizza for an hour before serving. EVERYONE LOVED IT. EVERYONE! If you do what I suggest above, this pizza will be good for more than 24 hours without becoming soggy. I just enjoyed leftovers and thought they even tasted better than the first day.

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
Can you believe this recipe only has 3 ingredients?!?! It is AWESOME. My husband said they were the best cookies I ever made. I used Cherry Chip Cake Mix and added 1 1/2 Cups of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips. Wow. Soooooo Good! I recommend putting them in an airtight container. If you do this, they'll stay soft for 3+ days. I am going to try other combos like, Fun Chip Cake Mix with White Chocolate Chips or Chocolate Cake Mix with White Chocolate Chips and Macadamia Nuts or Banana Cake with Butterscotch Chips or White Cake Mix with Buttercream Frosting. Have fun with this recipe, it ROCKS!!!

Tomato Enchilada Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2004
This is a great recipe. I recommend making it once as the recipe says to do and then tasting it and making notes for what you want to add the next time you make it. I like using crushed tomatoes instead of the diced canned & the canned tomato sauce. It has a fresher taste. I use Chipotle salsa for the red sauce and it is unbelievable. I always make double the red sauce since the amount it calls for barely covers all the rolled up tortillas. One more red sauce recommendation: make the sauce the night before and let it sit in the fridge overnight so the flavors can meld together. Makes a huge difference!

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2004
This is a good basic recipe but I think it needs a little revamp. Here is the revamping I did.... I used 1 cup of Half and Half instead of 2 cups of milk (too soggy with that much milk) I used 6 eggs instead of 4 for a richer egg texture. I added 3 tbsns green onions to the milk/egg mixture. I used 6 slices of THICK texas toast and covered the bottom of the pan with it. I then put the cooked sausage over that. (Bob Evans Spicy Hot Sausage from Kroger) I then put 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese over that. Then I pour the egg/half and half/green onion mixture over that. I bake after letting it sit in the fridge for 8-12 hours at 350 degree for 25 minutes. I guess I should post a new recipe!!

JEFF: You da man! This stuff is incredible and I wish I could hug you for help making my party such a success. I had everyone telling me that this tasted like the Orange Dream Machine at Jamba Juice. It's so good, you don't know there is alcohol in it. UMMMMMMMMM! Tips for other recipe users: Try different kinds of rum for alterations in flavor. I.e. pineapple rum, mango rum, spiced rum, dark rum, coconut rum, etc. Help your guests achieve a relaxed buzz while satisfying thier taste buds: MAKE THIS PUNCH!

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2004
This is a GREAT recipe! No one is exaggerating on these reviews and that is wonderful. I made it for my husbands 30th and had out 3 kinds of chips, Blue Corn Tortilla, Fritos Scoops and Homemade Tortilla from a local Mexican Restaurant. (I recommend getting the chips for a mexican restaurant as they are really fresh, not too salty and fairly inexpensive)Everyone will rave and wonder what the secret is! I took everyone's advice and made the following changes: omit blackeyed peas, added two diced fresh roma tomatoes only 1/2 cup italian dressing juice of one lime, 3 cloves minced fresh garlic Added 1/3 cup fresh cilantro right before serving This MUST be marinated overnight or longer. This is the best and you must try it soon!!!

Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2003
Everyone loved this! You can make this really healthy by using egg whites and apple sauce and believe me, no one will know! The glaze is the special secret to this one. Don't forget your coffee and amaretto and creamer along side a piece of this.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2003
This is a professional-tasting crust. You will never buy the boxed jiffy or the canned pillsbury stuff again. For fun, add flavorings to the crust when kneading such as red pepper flakes, cheese, rosemary, etc. Thanks JAY!

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2003
This recipe was good but I don't think that the bread crumbs do it any justice. Next time I might just put the chicken in the sauce without the breadcrubms. The sauce is to die for and is great with french fries or a baked potato topping
