Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
Hmmm, not sure how one can consider themselves an expert and 1) complain about the time it takes to bake any type of bread, and 2) say that tube cinnamon rolls taste the same as fresh baked. That being said these were delicious! I made them by hand and also added the whole box of pudding like others suggested. Great cinnamon roll for sure!

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Truly excellent pie! The only changes I made were substituting milk for the water and adding 1/2 tsp cream of tarter and vanilla to the meringue. The lemon filling was delicious. I ended up using 3 lemons which gave me about a half cup of juice. Next time I'm making this baby deep dish style.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I've made these with butter and they are pretty good. I wanted to see if I could try to make a lower calorie version so I used 4tbs of Smart Balance butter and 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1/2 cup of Splenda, 1 whole egg and one egg white, and I added 2 extra tbs of cocoa. Used an 8x8 pan. Not bad. Very moist. Definitely tastes like a low cal brownie but satisfies the chocolate craving if your watching calories.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
I'm a picky Italian so I found this to be an okay pizza crust made as the recipe instructs. It reminded me more of the store bought pizzas like Ellios etc. Definitely missing something in the crust flavor. I ended up dividing the dough and making one medium pizza and one batch of cinnamon rolls. One pizza and cinnamon rolls for dessert, can't complain about that.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
This is so easy and so good and so sending me on the treadmill tomorrow! I used two cans of the Grands flaky butter biscuits, sprinkled walnuts over the layers, threw in a tsp of vanilla with the brown sugar/butter sauce and kept everything else the same. The two cans were just right for a 10 inch bundt pan. Baked perfectly in 35 minutes and rose right to the top. I did have left over cinnamon sugar mix and sprinkled it over the top when I flipped it out of the pan. Yummy!!!

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
Excellent! I used just regular Jimmy Dean Sausage and threw in my own seasonings, sauteed onions, plain white bread toasted and cubed, mild and sharp cheddar and up'ed the eggs to 8 with 1+1/2 cup of milk. Layered it in an 7x11 dish. Not at all soggy. Came out nice and thick and fluffy. Gonna try this with bacon next time. The possibilities are endless.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I made these without a bread machine following ANDYTAMI's instructions. On the first try I couldn't get the yeast to proof in just the warm milk so I ditched that. Second try I added 1/4 cup of sugar to the warm milk and we were in business. I added the other 1/4 of sugar in with the eggs, butter etc... God are these good! The cream cheese frosting just puts them over the top. Making these again for the New Years brunch menu for sure.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
Soooo good. I also went by other's reviews and increased the flour by 1/4 cup and the peanut butter(non crunchy) by a 1/2 cup. I also did half butter half shortening. I used a 2 inch scoop and baked for 11 minutes at 375 degrees...BIG soft chewy cookies. Delish!!!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
I wish people would take into account the reviews before reviewing. If the majority of people give something 5 stars don't one star because baking isn't your forte. These are delicious. I added the extra 1/4C of flour, used raspberry, apricot and strawberry jam, rolled some in crushed almonds and put them in the fridge for 20 minutes before baking..they came out picture perfect!

I can't believe I'm just learning of this! I used a 1/4 cup popcorn, no oil or salt and with my microwave it took exactly a minute and a half to pop. So incredibly easy!!!!

Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Super yummy!!! I used 2 large apples and chopped them up tiny so the filling fit into the turnover better and still had some filling left over. Going to put it on my french toast tomorrow!
