Daisy Brand Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2014
I needed a cake for an upcoming colleague birthday and thought I'd try this one out on my daughter-in-law first, as she had a birthday coming up also. I didn't get to try any of the finished cake, but she told me it was awesome and had eaten about 1/3 of it herself. I did taste the frosting (what baker doesn't?) and the cake batter and they were very yummy! I only made two minor changes (based on other reviews). I cut the baking soda in half and used 1/2 cup warm water and 1/2 cup coffee. I had only 1/4 C of real butter so I used 1/4 of baking margarine with it in the frosting. Was the best frosting I've ever tasted and it made enough to frost the entire cake generously. Those canned frostings have to really be stretched to get around a cake anymore. Will definitely make this for my co-worker's birthday next week!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
These were awesome! My grandsons and neighbors loved them! I followed a couple of other suggestions (chilled the crust for at least 30 min before putting filling on)and melted the butter and peanut butter together (for crust). Also used 1 1/2 C powered sugar and added a little extra peanut butter to both the crust and the filling. Then put finished bars in fridge. They were great!

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
This was an excellent recipe. I cut it in half as there's only two of us and it was perfect. I only added some ground beef to the sauce as my husband isn't real fond of meatless dinners. Will make this again for sure.

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
This was easy and delicious! I added some cooked cubed chicken as I have people in my house who don't think it's a meal unless it has meat in it!

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
We all really liked this. I took the suggestion of using chicken stuffing and rolled it out with a rolling pin. It was delicious! Cut the soy sauce in half as it was salty enough.

Happy Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
This chicken turned out great! Husband a nd son loved it. I added a little more wine about 1/2 through cooking to keep it moist. I took others' suggestion and cooked it about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours (4# bird). Added some of my own seasonings to it(sprinkled them on bird pre-cook) but pretty much followed recipe exactly. Mustard flavor was just right..

Easy Slow Cooker Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
These were awesome! My husband and son loved them! I didn't have 6-8 hrs to let them slow cook so I put crock pot on high for about 3 hrs then turned it down for another 30 -45 min. Turned out perfectly!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
This was a very tasty cake and easy to make. I made the Satiny Chocolate Glaze to go with it. It wasn't very sweet (which I like) so adding a bit of whipped cream with each slice made it perfect! Everyone here loved it!

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
This recipe was very good and very easy! I left the dough in fridge overnight and I had no problem rolling cookies out and shaping them. They stayed nice and soft, even after being in the freezer for about a week!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
I have made this three times now, using left over turkey from the holidays and I really like it! I use frozen veggies (Bird's Eye) and boil them in chicken broth for a couple of minutes. Add cooked turkey, put in thawed pie crusts, and dinner...easy and delicious!

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
This was very good and easy. I followed others suggestion with cooking the rice (don't lift the lid during the 30 min except to stir maybe one or two times--and I did that quickly!)I also had run out of brown sugar so I put in about a tsp of maple syrup (have done that substitution before) and it had just the right amount of sweet taste. I'll make this again..

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
This bread was really moist! The only thing I will try differently is reducing the amount of sour cream--it was a little too much for my taste (not much but I did notice). I'll try 1/4 C next time. I also mashed the bananas like all of the other reviewers said. I am excited to try this again with the small change!

Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
This is a GREAT recipe! I did add more crushed corn flakes as someone suggested and seasoned the chicken before I coated it with some garlic powder but other than that, I followed recipe exactly! It was very tasty and I will make this again!

Spinach Lasagna III

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
I made this last weekend and it was great! I used the lasagna noodles that you don't have to boil first--made it so much easier to deal with. I also added some yellow squash and zucchini. Was a bit hit!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
My family ate this so quickly that I never got to sit down and eat a helping myself! I did get a forkful when I checked to see if it was hot!! I used cream of broccoli instead of cream of mushroom (not big mushroom lovers in my house). Plus I added garlic powder to the butter that used with the crackers. Was very good!

Chili Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
We really liked this recipe. I did use skinless breasts (not real drumstick fans) and it turned out great. Added a dab more of all of the ingredients except soy sauce. Baked about 35 min in oven covered, the took off cover and baked additional 20 minutes brushing the sauce over the chicken every 5-7 min. I did marinade the chicken overnight.

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
These baked up nice but I will add more garlic and cheese to the batter next time. And more garlic to the melted butter. It just didn't have enough garlic/cheese flavor and I used sharp cheddar cheese. Kept the leftover dough refrigerated and will make additions and try again!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
We all really liked this cake. I did use 1 cup of cocoa (instead of 3/4c) and used both regular cocoa and the special dark cocoa (about 1/4 dark to 3/4 regular). Very tasty cake! Used a chocolate butter creme frosting recipe from this site.

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This turned out so good! Made with a side of chicken and broccoli rice. I made sure the chicken was covered in liquid the entire time (left it to marinade in crock pot without turning it on for about an hour). Cooked on high for one hour then turned down to low for 3. Was super moist and tasted great!
