Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
I love that you don't have to thaw the chicken - just throw it in the crock-pot frozen! This a go-to recipe for me when I need something for company and don't have any time. I usually serve it over rice. Yum!

Oatmeal Date Bars

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
I tried this for the first time a few months ago and ever since then, there is PANIC in the house when they are gone! Yummy and chewy delicious! I don't think they are too sweet. I double the recipe, use one whole egg and add about 1/4 c. orange juice. I put half in the freezer so at least I'm not having to make them twice a week! They are in the oven right now!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I have made this a couple times and while I liked it, I wanted it to be thicker. So, when I made it today I used 1 c. milk and 1 c. heavy cream and it was a huge improvement! 1/2 & 1/2 would probably work too, but I had the heavy cream so that's what I used.

Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Used this recipe with the first of the season zucchini and it was terrific! Changes -- used about 4 links of sweet sausage {casings removed and broken up), 1 can of drained diced tomatoes, about 1 c. of fresh sliced mushrooms and a mix of different cheeses (some cheddar and mozzarella/italian shredded cheeses). Yum!

Broccoli Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
This was a yummy way to use the broccoli from my garden and the eggs from my sister's chickens! I do agree, however, that the crust seemed salty -- I will reduce it by half the next time I make it. But overall, it was really good and different from just a plain old quiche.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Yummy! I used 12-oz. of chicken broth instead of beer, chicken tenders instead of chicken breasts and added some cumin. It was delicious and very satisfying topped with corn chips and a dollop of sour cream

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
Couple things on this one - first, as someone earlier mentioned, only put the cornmeal under the bread -- my fan is still going on high since the whole house smoked up from the burning cornmeal on the cookie sheets! Second, I'm not exactly sure of the cook time - the top of the recipe says 1 hr. but at 450 that sure seems like a long time. I took them out after 20 min., since they sounded done. Haven't cut into them yet, maybe they needed to go longer.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Yum! Very good, a nice amount of spice -- I added a can of black beans (rinsed) and used 1 lb. chicken tenders. They were frozen, so I thawed them enough to cut them into chunks, then just threw them into the mix. Worked great and was super easy to do!

Chicken Biscuit Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Yum! We really enjoyed it and it was a lot easier than the recipe that I usually use. I used fresh carrots and potatoes cut into small chunks - cooked for about 8 minutes and then drained - added them to the chicken/pea/gravy mixture. I also had left over gravy from night #1 chicken - added that. I put in a 13 x 9 pan. Used puff pastry instead of biscuits. It was yummy!
