Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2004
These are SO GREAT! They are quick to prepare, contain basic ingredients probably already in your fridge, and the variations are endless. I haven't yet found how to stop egg from spilling out of at least one cup in each batch, however. This minor flaw certainly doesn't stop me from making them every week! Yum! Thanks Jeanne!

Blueberry Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2003
My daughter just started school this week and chose this "Blueberry Cake" as her special treat. (She's on a serious blueberry binge lately!) This coffee cake was just what we were looking for. It was easy to prepare, and not too sweet- I liked that, and chock full of juicy blueberries- she loves that. And since hubby and son won't touch coffee cake, we're two happy gals! Thanks Patty! **note: Although my oven bakes hot, this only took 20 minutes to bake...

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
Oh, mama! How do I give this recipe 10 stars?! Quick and easy to make, and definitely worth the "trouble." My son was shocked to learn that cinnamon rolls don't have to come from a can. With this great recipe, he won't have to eat those canned rolls again. Thanks!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2002
Oh yes, these are to die for! I have to hide some for breakfast or hubby will eat them all as a midnite snack. I lowered the butter in the topping by half (we just like it a little drier.) Every time I make them they are gone the same day. Thanks!

Funnel Cakes II

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2002
Oh my! These are so wonderful. Easy to make and easy to eat. And eat, and eat. I actually fixed these for dinner one night, and now my kids want them every night! (just as nutritious as pancakes, right?) Thanks!

S'mores

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2002
I wasn't sure if the 1c. butter was right- the "crust" was pretty soft. I think next time I will try just 1/2c. Don't get me wrong, we LOVED it! A soft crust gets the chocolaty-marshmellowy goodness to your mouth just as well as a firm one, and our mouths were so full, we weren't really complaining. Thanks!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 22, 2002
Well, you have 2 more converts in my house. My son and hubby won't eat any cookies but basic chocolate chip. As these were cooling, I noticed they kept disappearing off the rack! Easy and YUMMY and the house still smells great. Thanks!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2002
Rick, you rock! I made this frosting to go over a vegan chocolate cake for my daughter's first b-day, and got rave reviews. So easy and yummy! I split the shortening with butter, half and half. I also put in only about 6 c. of the sugar. So good I'll never buy frosting again. Thanks!

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2002
Santa finally brought me a waffle iron and the recipe that came with it was HORRIBLE- tasted like cardboard. I knew I'd find a treasure here, and I sure did! These waffles are quick, easy and super yummy. They even taste good with nothing on them- the true taste test. Thanks!

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2001
Well, I tried to get tricky and sub. applesauce for the oil. Even after freezing overnite, the dough wasn't hard enough to handle. I just used a scoop and dumped it right into the powdered sugar. The sub. didn't affect the taste- wonderful, super good! They are nice and chewy and cakey and chocolatey. Thanks!

Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2001
Yes, this dough was a bit too sticky. Yes, it was also a bit sweet. They were also fluffy, and crunchy, and buttery, and YUMMY! I added chocolate chips to please my family. Next time I'll try dried fruit. Thanks!

Mom's Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2001
What a great recipe! My very picky 5yo. son was a little put off by the "gooshy"-ness of this pancake. But once I told him there was applesauce in it, he gobbled up 3 (mickey mouse shaped, of course!) 7mo daughter is happily gumming 1 right now, but she'll eat any bread product. So quick and easy, and made the house smell great. Thanks!

Best Basic Sweet Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2001
I used this recipe to make monkey bread- my son asks for it every morning! It worked great. The milk/yeast mixture didn't get foamy like the recipe specified, but it rose perfectly! Thanks!

Chocolate Chip Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2001
these bars are great! really easy and quicker than doing cookies by the sheet. to add to the chocolaty-ness, I sprinkled 1 (additional!) cup choc. chips on the top 5 min. before they were done and spread like frosting upon removing from the oven. yum, yum, double yum!

Hearty Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2001
LOVE IT!! I'm a full-time mom and full-time student, so meals aren't really a priority in my life. These are so quick and easy to make, package in servings, throw in the freezer, and pull out in the morning. Toss some in my backpack and I'm set for the day. I shortened the baking time to 15 min. so they'd be a bit chewier, and substituted choc. chips for the raisins to get my son to eat them. I love getting to be a cool mom and letting him eat cookies for breakfast. Thanks!!
