Granny's Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
This is a great recipe! I did not use the walnuts and took the advice of others and raised the temp to 350. 50 min on the dot was perfect! No overcooked edges or undercooked middle. It has a cake texture and we prefer more of a gooey. Still has wonderful flavor and I will make again! After they sat overnight they weren't very good. I don't plan to make them again unless we are having company and there will be no leftovers.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
I LOVED this cake! I typically don't like white cake because of the dry texture and plain flavor. Not this case with this recipe! Made this for Father's Day, for my husband. Added jello to it, how his Oma used to do it. (I tried the white cake without the jello, too) Used an 8min icing and marshmallow fondant. Thanks for the recipe! I won't ever use anything else for white cake! ps I did not make any adjustments as others suggested and it turned out absolutely beautiful! No need to waste time trying to "fix" or "perfect" this one.

Holland Boterkoek

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2010
Sooo good. A little sugar on top would be good for next time. I haven't had this in a long time and it came out exactly like I remembered it. I baked it for right about 35min and it browned nicely :) Thanks for the great recipe! My husband tried it today and liked it, too. It's just how he remembers it being. His grandparents are Dutch immigrants.

Warm Apple Pocket

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
This was a pretty good recipe. I didn't have any apple pie spice on hand so I just mixed a little brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in. Used my own crust and added a little water to the egg. I also topped with cinnamon and sugar. It's a cute idea and packed well for my husband to take to work. Could use a little lemon juice with the apple mixture. I may stick with apple pie filling recipe I usually use. Oh, I also used rice milk in place of reg milk, as my son and I can't have dairy.

One Minute Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
My new favorite icing to make...and eat! Soooo good. I should have made a double batch. I only had enough to do about half of my cupcakes. Love this recipe! So great that I didn't have to use up all my confectioner's sugar! Thanks for the recipe :)

Stuffed French Toast II

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
I made a lot of changes to this. First, I had white bread that needed to be used up so I used that instead. Wheat would have been better but the white did the job. I didn't measure anything (never do with french toast) and used fresh plum jam instead of raspberry. It's what we had on hand. I also always add a little salt, cinnamon and vanilla. Also, I use oil instead of butter to cook french toast. Dusted with powdered sugar and voila! Very good! Thank you for the recipe!

Jenny's Grilled Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
I too, added olive oil and galic salt. I let it marinade for about 5 min before putting it on, since I had to have dinner in a pinch. Turned out great! Very tender. Next time I'll let it sit for about 15min. and add more seasoned salt. Thanks for the recipe!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
Wonderful! I don't foresee buying Manwich ever again. It was such a hit last night we're having it for dinner again, tonight. We need a double batch and I added more green pepper and onion. I only have garlic salt with parsley so I just didn't add salt. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Very good. Simple ingredients that can all be found at home. I have lots of fresh pumpkin puree that needs using up. This is a great way to do it! Thanks for the recipe! Will make again.

Strawberry Syrup

Sooo good. The only reason I didn't give it the full amount of stars is because it is a little thin. It still works and tastes great though. I do not recommend using blackberries. I just tried it this morning and it is not good.

Rum Mocha Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2013
Very tasty! My customers loved them! I did take the advice of a previous poster and add a couple heaping spoons of sour cream and two T of chocolate pudding mix. I made cupcakes out of this and they turned out well. I wonder if the dry remarks could be due to over baking. They only needed 20 min in the oven, rather than the 35, it calls for. The frosting was far too fudgy and thick, so I added about 1/4 more butter and a splash of milk. It thinned it into a buttercream. Piped on great. I topped with half of a Ferrero Rocher ball, instead of cherries and cream. Thanks for the recipe! Yields about 2 doz cupcakes. Frosting makes enough for about 1 1/2 doz. To make your own cake flour: for each one cup of all purpose, subtract 2 T and replace with corn starch. Sift at least 5 times. Voila!

Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
Stood up well for decorating. Took the gel dye without changing consistency or thinning out! Taste was much better than the gross crisco kinds but still wasn't the best. It was very sweet, so could use some tweaking. I will have to play with it to get a better flavor, without changing its decorating capability.
