About this Cook
I live in the suburbs of Athens. I love cooking for my family and friends. I enjoy cooking for my sons and their friends and love to see them eating hungry as wolves after they come back from their swimming in the summer!
My favorite things to cook
I like making greek pies, (tyropita and spanakopita) with my home made fyllo pastry, my famous mousaka (eggplant layers, ground meet, cheese and besamel sauce)greek stew (stifado), and many others. I love many different cuisines and I like to experiment with dishes from all over the world. Italian cuisine is my favorite. A simple spagetti with tomato sauce and a glass of red wine is on top of my list!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's favorite is the Christmas stuffed turkey with chestnuts, ground meat pine nuts and rice, and the Easter roasted lamb on a spit, which it takes place in my Village in the high mountains of Arcadia.
My cooking triumphs
My spinach pie and my Christmas Greek cookies, kourabiedes.
My cooking tragedies
A potroast that I burned to the point that I threw away together with the pot!!

The Best Meatballs
Very good recipe! Mixing two or three kinds of meat is a very good idea. Also water in the mixture is a must for really soft meatballs. Rolling the balls in flour before frying helps to keep them in perfect shape. If you prefer not to fry it is not necessary. Cooking them directly in a sauce or baking them also is very good, this way you avoid loads of calories and much healthier. Another good practice is to use old bread, preferably whole wheat, instead of dry bread crumbs, soaked in water. Using different spices one prefers also is good idea. These meatballs are really great for parties!

Turkey Cocktail Meatballs with Orange Cranberry Glaze
I made these meatballs for the new year party. Everyone was raving about them! Really great for a party and easy to make! I did not change anything, the sauce is really tasty. My family requested to make them again soon and serve them with basmati rice.

Grilled Chicken Burgers
Wow, this is a great recipe! I made this for dinner today and it really came out wonderfully. Tasty and juicy. As I didn't have a grill, I broiled the burgers in my oven. The results were excellent! just as we like them. I served them with basmati rice. I will make them again and again. Making the patties is easier if you wet your hands with a little water.
