About this Cook
I graduated from college a few years ago and now I work for a construction company. When I do get some free time I like to cook (obviously), play a few rounds a golf, fly airplanes, and travel whenever I get the chance. My fabulous boyfriend doesn't mind being my guinea pig on all of my cooking escapades!
My favorite things to cook
Anything I can put on my grill and Asian food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Canning/freezing vegetables from the garden. Sweet corn, salsa, jalapenos and pickles!
My cooking triumphs
1.Apple Cake - the recipe is so easy and everybody thinks it's fantastic! 2.Grilled Pizza - I will never bake a pizza in the oven again!
My cooking tragedies
1.When I was young, I made a boxed muffin mix by myself. I didn't quite understand fractions yet. I put in 3/4 cup oil instead of 1/4 cup oil. They were heavy but almost edible! 2.Years ago I blew up a glass dish on the stove top that my mother received as a gift for my parents wedding.

Lentil and Smoked Sausage Soup
I felt obligated to write a review for this. It was really good! I made it two weeks ago and my boyfriend has "mentioned" it 3 or 4 times since so I'm making it again tonight. First time I used turkey sausage; this time we're going to try the tofurkey sausage. I like to use a half a head of cabbage shredded and two cans of tomatoes. I think diced potatoes might be good in it too..

Fried Rice with Cilantro
Wow this was really good! I put 2 "cups" of brown rice in the rice cooker (the cup given with the cooker isn't really a cup) the night before so it would be cold when I made this. I used dried basil because I didn't have any fresh. Next time there will be fresh basil. Otherwise I followed as written - maybe a little less oil. My boyfriend didn't even hesitate to rate it 5 stars!

Beef and Bean Chimichangas
These were great. Surprisingly my favorite part was leftovers for lunch! This made 6 HUGE portions. I baked 2 of them for supper and the rest I froze before baking. Yesterday I set one out in the fridge overnight to thaw and brought it to work for lunch. Reheated in the microwave so it was more of a burrito rather than a chimi. I topped it with fresh salsa, and it was a fantastic work lunch.
