Colonoscopy Tomorrow, what to eat in the aftermath.

I have been thinking about what I can have tomorrow after I have had my colonoscopy tomorrow morning at 7am.
here is what I have read: Post-Colonoscopy Diet
Generally, once a patient is discharged from the hospital and begins to recover from anesthetic, he can resume a regular diet. Due to the anesthetic, he might want to resume his regular diet slowly, beginning with liquids until soft foods such as puddings or yogurt can be tolerated. The effects of the anesthesia may cause nausea, which will keep the patient from returning to his regular diet. Drink clear liquids until the nausea subsides. Listen to your body and resume eating with a liquid, soft or "invalid" diet.

I had Colonoscopy 5.5 years ago, but I can't remember if I really had any problems with eating anything. I am starving right now, and all I can think of is eating a large steak with mushrooms and onions, gravy with mashed potatoes. I don't think I want to eat soup because I have been on a light diet for the past two days.
I heard rice was ok, and have also been thinking about making some fried rice without any meat or vegetables.

Good luck with that. I am due next year. I can't recall starting light and proceeding to normal diet. I think I snarfed a sleeve of Ritz crackers and a block of cheddar when I got home.

You may want to rethink the rice. It has a binding effect and you need to be cleaned out before the procedure.

they said rice was good for after the procedure. not asking what to eat before the procedure.

I recently had a colonoscopy here in the UK. As I didn't want to stay in hospital overnight, I opted for Fentanyl and watched the whole procedure on a wide screen tv. Fascinating. I was able to eat normally after the procedure (approximately 30 minutes later I ate the best cheese sandwich I've ever had !!!) with no after effects. Whilst having a colonoscopy is not the way I would choose to spend an afternoon, it was certainly not unbearable - just a little uncomfortable. I liked the prep less. Good luck with your procedure, I'm sure you'll sail through it.

I don't have any advice but I do hope that all goes well for you.

Now that it's all done, I had 5 Polyps, they sent them to the lab. Last time 5 years ago I only had 3 Polyps So I am not feeling too good about the out come. I guess it is good that I did not put it off. The Dr. said maybe 3 to 5 years next time, so it looks like I am going to have one again in 3 years.
