Poor Dog

Today I Was On My Porch, And Heard A Yelp

When I looked down the street I seen a dog was run over by a car, the car slowed down, but then took off. I walked down the street and the dog was moving, but by the time I got there he died. The dog was a small thing. The owner had come out and was crying I was sorry I could not help him. It seems the dog would escape the fenced in area.

The speed limit is 25 miles per hour, the guy must have been doing 45

He was unsure how he would tell his wife.

I know how he feels, My dogs are like my little babies.

I have seen it happen to my neighbor's pup, it has happened to my Mom with her precious Daphne..It is one of the worst things that you can ever see. I don't know what I would do if my baby girl was ever injured or killed by a car.

I wish I had a nickel for each time I have almost crashed my car avoiding errant animals. I know how awful I would feel if one of my fur babies got hit. But to keep going? That is awful.

I feel your pain - how can someone be so insensative. My dog is 15 years old and even though we know we will lose him someday I can't imagine losing him in the way you described.

Sad... just Sad!

What a sad story. I used to live on a street where people would speed and of course they ran over my cat. I really hate when people don't stop to at least see if the cat/dog is still alive.

How sad, I worry big time when my cat Ziggy (Houdini?) escapes. I live in a quiet area, speed limit 30 but there can always be a yokel around who wants to gun it. Guess we need to be more vigilant to keep out pets in the house, yard or somehow protected. In my case, he gets out occasionaly, but comes home whithin 2hours crying his eyes out and shaking to get back in. Why doesn't he learn, and what did he see that freaked him out I wonder? Worse thing so far that has happened is fleas which we promptly treated and eradicated.
