Progresso Loaded Potato With Bacon Soup

When I was at the store last week I saw a can of "New" Progresso Loaded Potato With Bacon Soup on the shelf and decided to pick up a can to check it out.

today we heated up the soup and split it (2 servings per can, about 9 oz each)

I would say it was just "OK" for a canned soup, nothing i would be jumping up and down about. the potato chunks were smaller than i thought they would be. The Campbell's potato soups had bigger chunks.

Sue had to put Parmesan cheese on it so she could eat it.

we will not be buying it again.

Thank for the warning. I don't know why I buy prepared soup, I am always disappointed. I should just cook and freeze my own. I tried these new frozen Italian soups, I think they are made by Barilla or Bertoli, I ended up forcing down one bowl of each and pitching the rest. They were kinda slimy in texture and i did not like the texture of the vegetables, esp. the zucchini. The only prepared soup I have tried that I like comes in a brown paper bag (it's dehydrated) and is labeled Sicilian Brodo Pollo, translated, Chicken with broad noodles. Pretty good. but not as good as mine.

King Sparta-I am not fond of Progresso Soups. Most soups I eat-I make my own. When I get sick-I just open a can of chicken noodle-not great, at least it is warm.

Lela Both Sue and I do not like any of Progresso Soups. I do eat canned soups sometimes so it is not like I dislike them all. I hate the fact they are so expensive now days. That one can cost me $3.00+

I've seen so many bad reviews about this soup but I just had a can for the first time and it wasn't nearly as bad as most make it out to be. I have to admit when I popped the top off the smell wasn't too appealing but I thought I'd warm it up and give it a try and I actually kind of liked it. I thought that it was pretty good considering a canned soup. I am a soup fan but I'm pretty picky. This is something that I might try to find a knockoff recipe off and make on my own but with a little bit of salt added it's not too bad I think I'd buy it again for a quick lunch. To each their own I guess but I wouldn't just go based solely on the reviews. If you've been looking to try it then you should just spend the extra two bucks and try a can.
