At my Food Lion in southern Virginia (just north of Person county, NC) Jennie-O turkeys are 59 cents a pound with a $35 purchase. Go figure... I bought a small 11 pounder which is plenty for us. Can't see spending the extra $ for a "butterball"... I remember 49 cents a pound turkeys not that long ago...

Wow! Prices do vary in different parts of the country. Safeway in Pueblo West, Co. ---Honeysuckle Turkey --62 cents a lb. for a 8-16 lb. with a $25 purchase or Safeway Turkey--58 cents a lb for a 8-12 1b or 49 cents a lb. for 8-16 lb. Of course you have to buy the largest turkey for the suggested price to get the above bargain. King Soopers Jennie-O-- 43 cents a lb.-- up to 16 lb -limit 1---Butterball is 1.29 a lb. no mater what the size- limit 1

I am not into prices, I like my turkey brined. I get it already done at Trader Joes, which I did today at $1.99 a pound. I buy the smallest one, 12 lbs and it is just what I was looking for. All I have to do is dry the bird out in the fridge a day before the Big day( I take it out of the wrapping to let the skin dry up a bit, so it gets crisper) and turn on the BBQ! Easy peasy!
