The Wake County Animal Center killed an 8-month-old dog named Sassy a few hours after she appeared on WRAL's noon news Tuesday to be adopted.

this is crazy, this animal center has one of the highest kill rates, and this is not the first time they lied. they also stated the shelter doesn't have a quarantine area to treat them. but the SPCA stated they do have a quarantine area.

that's all they do there is kill, so sad

that's wrong, they didn't get Sassy a chance to be adopted. That's immorally and totally wrong!

SPCA and Humane societies aren't always about humane. The big group is more of a political group who is more in line with PETA. Anti-hunting, Anti-pet, Anti-child agendas. They prey on people's compassion with their soppy ads and use it for their political ends. They have a lot of high kill shelters. This is not to say ALL of their affiliates are that way. But as a rule, I will NOT give any money to these organizations unless I personally know the people running them.

Shame on them! It is just one of so many heart breaking stories! Didn't even give the dog time to get adopted. Thanks for sharing this sad news that might help the next poor pup to live long enough to get a loving home.

I hate to hear things like this. But the residents of the area have to make the shelter step up and do the right thing.

Today due to pressure from the community, they have suspended killing of animals with upper respiratory issues. until the review of the facility is completed (about 40 days).

they have murdered 878 dogs this year. some of witch needed to be put down but many of them did not, this was due to a policy that they killed kittens and puppies who where biting, later revealed they were actually teething.
