Not Red Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
Tried this recipe because I had Turkey sausage and zucchini and needed a supper dish, everyone rated this one high so I tried it. I was very disappointed. Even with the addition of 4 cloves of minced garlic and some red pepper flakes, this was just boring. It was not saucey enough to stick to the pasta and was very greasy. I might try to make a alfredo style sauce with these ingredients along with adding some cheeses, just to be able to have a different style of sauce.

Lavender Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
Tried this to use lavender I grew this year. We found that the bacon didn't get crispy enough for our tastes, so we tried again with precooked and it was quite good. Got 3 out of 4 thumbs up. My hubby just didn't like the taste of the lavender.

Kickin' Collard Greens

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I bought some collards for a good price so decided to try this recipe. I made it just as written except I left out the salt (cause the chicken broth all ready had it) and it was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!!! I served it with a pot roast and both of us went back for seconds... of the collards. This went immediately into my "use often" file!

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
Have been making these for years and they are my families favorite. I use pecans instead of walnuts just because I love them. They are just as good made without the nuts, which I sometimes do, in case of allergies.

Cordon Bleu Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
I had both ham and turkey leftovers so I tried this. I found that the amount of turkey was too much to fit into a 2 qt dish and still add everything else so I cut it to 2 cups. Everyone tried this in my family and it got overwhelming yawns. The best anyone could say was it had a nice consistency but tasted boring. It needs to be spruced up with maybe some added garlic and maybe some herbs.

Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Like others I changed this around to suit what I had on hand so I did not use the file powder or hot pepper sauce. I also increased the garlic and used poblano and cayenne peppers instead of bell peppers. All that being said we liked it , even the first time when I forgot the tomatoes it was still very tasty. The second time I made it I also added a small bag of frozen salad shrimp (and the tomatoes) and it was just as good. I'd say this is a keeper.

Date and Whisky Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
This is a nice average almond cake, the dates and whiskey don't add much. It's okay but just okay.
