I am a retired cashier from the big DIY store everyone knows and I have been married 33 years. I have 2 children one in grad school and one in college. I like to grow vegies in containers on my back patio and use them in my cooking ( I make some killer Pesto). I lived many places as a child and met my husband in the UK. We have lived in the southeast USA ever since.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, cakes, pies and cookies etc. and I like to make ethnic dishes that my family enjoys, our favorites right now are caribbean and cajun. My son and daughter also like to cook and each has their own style, my daughter loves to make pasta dishes while my son make lots of vegetable dishes mostly with a spicy asian flair.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always make certain things for the holidays, one of which is a spicy eggnog which is better than any I have tasted. Other than that we like to change around things and try new styles of food.
My cooking triumphs
My Pumpkin cheesecake is so good I have people ask me to make it for them each Christmas and have offered to pay up to 50 dollars for them. To be fair I have only charged 20. :)
My cooking tragedies
When my children were very small we made gingerbread men to hang on the Christmas tree. We even made a hole in them before baking so we could hang them on the tree. By afternoon we had finally gotten them decorated and hung up on the tree, we decided to go pick up a take out dinner before Dad got home. When we arrived home our tree was laying over on it's side and all the gingerbread men were gone. We were astounded until I realized the dog was missing. We found her hiding behind a table upstairs she knew she would be in trouble cause she had eaten every last one of them...including the strings.
