Cheesiest Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
Mmmmm-I was hoping to find an alternative to pot. soup made with a cream soup. This is it. No MSG in this recipe. My husband ate three bowlfuls & it was easier to prepare than my previous pot. soup. I added cooked turkey bacon. Now I want to know if I can heat it in a crockpot w/o it curdling. Does anyone know?

Chicken Spaghetti III

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
I changed a few things: 1. Made my own cream of chicken soup with organic chicken stock, 1 Tbsp. potato starch stirred in, simmer a bit, added half & half, poultry seasoning, & Better Than Bouillon Chicken Base. 2. Used shredded cheddar cheese. 3. Hubby dislikes tomato chunks, so used a "boat motor" to blend the tomatoes with green chile peppers. 4. Made penne pasta instead of spaghetti. Hubby said it's okay - I think it's great. A tasty departure from the dinners I usually cook. :)

Three Cheese Baked Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2013
I put it on low in the crockpot, used two jars of kosher marinara sauce & onion powder in place of chopped onion & 1-1/2 pounds of beef. I know the submitter got confused by the serving size of her sauce jar. The jar label states it contains 6 (1/2 cup) servings of sauce, so to make 12 servings, you need two large jars. People at our fellowship devoured it. Thumbs up!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
Will have to saute the onions before adding to the soup, they were crunchy. I left out the corn as I'm allergic to grains - so it's gluten free! Yay! I used kidney beans and added a liberal shaking of garlic powder with homemade chicken broth, also. Hubby said, "Eh". He ate it, though. This is progress!

Passover Matzo Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
Has a mild flavor, needs punching up with basil, oregano & garlic to taste. I thought was okay, hubby disliked it. Did look like the real thing after baking.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Sausage Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
My husband says it needs more of something; it's too saucy. Pasta, he said. I used beef base instead of beef cubes, turkey Italian sausage and cooked it on the stove top for 1-1/2 hours. Had to add chicken broth. It's passable - hubby said he doesn't want to see it again in the near future, like 6-8 years.

Homemade Poultry Seasoning

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2015
My DH said it was a bit strange tasting; I skipped the rosemary as he dislikes it & omitted the nutmeg. I used dried sage I grew last summer. It tastes good to me!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
I used vegetable broth instead of water & chile peppers as that's what I had. My husband isn't a fan of refried beans, but he said it was passable; he needed more food. I served it with Jasmine rice, which he mixed in with the mashed beans. I didn't eat it as I can't have nightshade vegetables, which are tomatoes, peppers, eggplant & potatoes.
