Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
I made it with homemade white bread and followed the instructions almost exactly (whisked after each piece of bread and added more cinnamon as the batter was used up). My husband is a good cook and hard to please - he said it was the best french toast he ever had. Even called it "picture worthy" - next time I will take a picture! :) Delicious!

I make this for father's day every year from our orchard pickings. Always a hit for all the dad's in our family!

Spiced Applesauce Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This is one of my favorite uses of our canned applesauce. Wonderful, lighter snack around the holidays. Even my picky daughter (age 6) loves it.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
I make this in a shaped bundt pan and dust with powder sugar (to highlight the design). I had more compliments from this cake than any other dessert I made over the holidays (and I make a lot). Absolutely wonderful, moist gingerbread - best you will try.

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
Really like the simplicity of this recipe. A little bland, so make sure to season liberally. But a summer standard for use with my fresh dill. Great combo.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
WOW. I can't make this very often since I can't control myself around them - they are so delicious. Wouldn't change a thing about the recipe. It works best if cooked exactly like instructed, but you can put the shaped roles in the pan, let sit for 30 minutes then cover to put in the fridge over night. Put into the oven (straight out of the fridge) at 400 for 30 minutes. Turned out great.

Excellent - I make just as the recipe says and it is wonderful and moist. Makes for a great healthy snack (or breakfast) alternative. LOVE IT.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This is a great base to use for a wheat bread. We did not like the sunflower seeds, and next time we make we will likely replace with something else (maybe wheat berry). However, the texture of the bread is very nice and works well with the seed additions. I do recommend adding a teaspoon of wheat gluten for more consistent rise and texture. I will keep in my bread arsenal for sure.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
Both my husband and my six year old said these were the best brownies ever. Pretty high praise from my husband (who is a much better cook than I). Only tweak I made was to use Dutch Processed Cocoa and added a half-teaspoon of espresso powder. Awesome - just don't work the batter too much to keep them chewy and don't over-bake.
