Super Duper Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

This recipe, as written, is delicious! Dummy here forgot to add the parsley at the end but it didn't detract any from the flavor. So I have a nice bunch of fresh parsley hanging out in the fridge... maybe I'll dress up the oven roasted potatoes I'm making tonight with them. Great job cwmom98! :)

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Classic Spicy Meatloaf

I usually follow recipes exactly the first time I try them but I was browsing for meatloaf recipes based on what I had on hand. I didn't have carrots or celery, and I don't think they belong in meatloaf anyhow. I used 2 pounds of pre-packaged meatloaf mix (ground beef, ground pork, and ground veal). I used diced yellow onions instead of green onions, and I was out of garlic (didn't know it till it was too late) so I substituted garlic powder. Then I pulled out my bread crumbs to find that they were Parmesan flavored. Oh boy, I thought this was going to turn out to be a mess but IT WAS AWESOME!! Kudos to Angela on a wonderful basic recipe that can be tweaked and still turn out fantastic.

Chef John's Lasagna

OK, I haven't made lasagna in years. The stuff I used to make was icky and the noodles were uncooked. Made this recipe last night and the family raved over it. My only question: where is the garlic??? Yes, I cheated and tossed in a couple cloves of minced garlic... anyhow, my aching hands from grating cheese were totally worth it and this will be my go to recipe! As always John, your recipe was phenomenal. I'm trying the maple-brined pork loin next! :)

Fisherman's Quick Fish

I've made this dish twice. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and it was great; the second time I added a little cayenne pepper to the chip/cheese mixture and it was awesome. I used fresh cod and they were a little thicker so I had to adjust the cooking time accordingly. Thanks for a great recipe!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Made recipe as written except I don't like maple flavored sausage so I stuck with regular Neese's brand. It was delicious; I was a little heavy handed on the salt so added extra pepper and milk to even out the flavor. Next time I'm going to use Neese's Hot country sausage. Will definitely make again... thanks Bill!

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf

Delish! I used onion soup mix in place of the dried minced onion and salt and added some garlic powder. Was very pleasantly surprised that meatloaf done in a crock pot could turn out so good! Thanks for the recipe.

Crispy Fried Chicken

I have never EVER been able to fry chicken until I tried this recipe... it was wonderful! The only thing I will do differently next time will be to marinate the chicken in buttermilk (with some hot sauce mixed in) for awhile prior to frying.

Pat's Potato Salad

Absolutely delicious! It was a bit runny so I would suggest adding the sauce in a little at a time until potatoes are well coated but it did "firm up" a bit as it sat in the refrigerator. I did add some hard boiled eggs, garlic powder, and pepper but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Excellent job Pat- thank you for sharing!

Best Baked Chicken

Awesome recipe! I used celery seed instead of celery salt- next time I will cut that in half as it was a little overpowering with the celery seed already in the herb stuffing mix. I did marinate the chicken for 30 minutes in the sauce prior to rolling in the stuffing crumbs; it made the chicken very tender and juicy. 50 minutes was just right for the thick chicken breasts I used. Thanks for sharing!

Chef John's Buttermilk Fried Chicken

I used chicken thighs for this recipe. It tasted great but is definitely not a recipe for a deep fryer. At 350 degrees the first batch burned after 10 minutes. I put the second batch in for 8 minutes and it looked perfect but neither batch was fully cooked through. Had to microwave them to finish cooking... thank goodness the buttermilk tenderizes the chicken and they didn't dry out. Next time I'll try actually pan frying it although I've never had success with that method. I'll also substitute some hot sauce (Franks, etc) for the cayenne pepper in the marinade.

Best Green Bean Casserole

I microwaved the soup and 3/4 cup of the cheese together and added 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce (although I think soy sauce would have been better). Then per other reviewers' suggestions I added 4 ounces of the french fried onions and mixed this all together with 2 cans of french cut green beans. I placed the remaining cheese and onions on top and baked approximately 20 minutes. Green bean casserole has never been my favorite but this recipe was very good- thanks for sharing Jan!
