Lemon Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
For an orange-mint variation, I substituted orange zest for the lemon, doubled the quantity of zest, and added a handful of fresh chopped mint. Also gave it a squirt of lemon juice. Yum!! Thank you for this fantastic recipe--moist and rose beautifully.

Julene's Spelt Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
Yum! I used toasted almond slivers (chopped a bit) and a 50% more vanilla and salt, though it probably didn't need it. For fun, I made 15 bigger cookies and undercooked them by a couple minutes. Thanks for a great recipe with spelt flour!

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
Yummmm! doubled tumeric and cumin and added extra pepper as well. Used yellow sweet potatoes and added a drizzle of balsamic vinegar per another chef's recommendation. Amazing and so cheap!

Pad See Ew (Thai Noodles with Beef and Broccoli)

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
I add carrots sliced on the diaganal and steamed. Didn't have dark soy sauce, so used light soy sauce and a teaspoon of molasses. Tossed the noodles in sesame oil before adding to the skillet to reduce their sticking together in clumps. Increased the sauce amount by about 30 percent. This tastes just like the pad see ew I get at my favorite thai spot. Thank you so much!!

Champagne Sorbet with Berry Medley

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
What a great idea! Super easy to make with an ice cream maker. Mixed the champagne and sugar in the ice cream maker for 30 min, then froze it for a bit in the freezer before scooping. We didn't have strawberries; just chopped some mint and mixed it in with halved/chopped fresh blueberries. As my husband said, this will give you "a head rush and a brain freeze at the same time!"

Yum! I added some mustard to the egg mixture and some garlic powder to the cornmeal mixture to amp up the flavor.

Pavlova

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
So yummy! I mixed the almond extract into the meringue (just before adding the sugar) then used cool whip as a shortcut instead of whipping cream (I don't have a mixer so my wrist was already sore from beating the eggs!). I also made 5-6 mini-size instead of one big one. So easy, fun, and delicious!
