Great basic recipe which I gussied up some by using 1/2 ground chicken and 1/2 ground sausage. I didn't have any bread crumbs, so I substituted rolled oats. Didn't miss the bread crumbs, plus I need lower gluten recipes anyway. I left out the sugar and mustard also. I layered half of the meat in the pan, then sprinkled a generous portion of grated sharp cheddar, then the remainder of the meat mix. Oh, and I left out the milk, too, but this recipe turned out very moist. I didn't grease the pan as I figured there would be extra fat from using the sausage. Everyone of the eight people at the table pronounced it to be a 'keeper' for sure. It was absolutely delicious and I definitely will make it again. It proved to be a quick, easy recipe for short notice company coming. Great basic recipe you can switch up different ways for different dinners. Thanks, Janet!
