Portuguese Fried Bread

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This is an excellent and easy recipe. I was trying to find some Portuguese recipes to get in touch with my heritage, and I stumbled on this. The bread is chewy and slightly sweet, almost similar to a gordita. My husband and son LOVE them.

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
This is a wonderful recipe, with a strong pumpkin flavor, without being overly sweet. Very creamy. The only changed I made was to cook the milk and sugar on low until the sugar was well disolved, then I turned it up to med low until it reached a boil. We love pumpkin in my house so I had been eyeballing this recipe for some time. I went out and bought all the ingredients, and then my family went to the local pumpkin farm where they had pumpkin fudge on sale. I bought a piece to see how I should expect mine to turnout because I had never tried it before. I was upset that it was rather grainy and overly sweet. My husband liked it so I went ahead and made this recipe. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! So much better than the stuff at the pumpkin farm.

I can not get enough of this. My whole family loves it, but I think I will have to make much more because I want it all for myself! Super easy, my four year old made it himself! (With Mom's supervision)

Bran Flakes Muffins with Raisins

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I followed the instructions exactly. I went in to check on the muffins after about 22 minutes and they were already burnt. I pulled one out to taste, and they were mostly flavorless except for the salt. Waaaaayy to much salt. I will not make again.

Amazing! Really easy to make and the taste was incredible. It tasted like something you would get a restaurant. I will be making this a regular item at our house.

Very good. I was pleasantly surprised. Not to sweet, with just a little kick.

Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon with Port Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
My husband gave this 5 stars, I would give it 3, so we will split the difference and call it 4. It was tasty, but the blue cheese overpowered the beef, and I didn't like the texture of the crumbs.

Brigadeiro

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2012
Super easy to make. I was expecting something like truffles, but this comes out like a chocolate flavored caramel. I left half the batch regular and rolled in cocoa powder and chopped cashews. The other half I mixed toasted coconut into the "dough", then rolled balls in toasted coconut. I bet this would be delicious dipped in chocolate, too! Great recipe!

Pumpkin Brioche

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
The dough came out with an almost bitter taste, and the texture was no where near "luxuriant." It just had the same texture as regular quick bread. Quite a let down. I will not be making this again.

General Tsao's Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
This was wonderful! This was at least as good as what we have gotten at restaurants. We didn't have a cup of cornstarch, so we just used flour to coat the chicken, but it turned out great. I was hesitant to fry the chicken twice, but it really made a difference on how crispy it came out. The sauce was a little too orange flavored, but they may have been my husband "helping" me. Definitely a keeper, and we will be making this again. It's a new favorite in our house.

Pumpkin-Pecan Braid

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
I tried this on a whim, and was very pleased with the outcome. I had almonds on hand, and used those instead of pecans. Minimal prep, and a wonderful return! You must love pumpkin. My 6 year old and I loved it. It does not reheat very well, so try to enjoy it the same day.

Grilled Chicken Adobo

Very tasty. Just the right combination of flavors, without being overpowering. I used boneless skinless thigh meat, and made foil packets to bake in the oven. Came out moist, and flavorful.

Hawg-N-Dogs

My husband and my son really liked this, but I think I would rather have my bacon on the side. I think it was too much work for some hot dogs, but it was pretty tasty.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
The seasoning on the chicken itself was not very special, but the slow cooking made for an amazing moist and fall apart chicken. I didn't realize that chicken that tastes like what I get from the deli could be made at home with out special equipment. I was very pleased with this recipe, as was my family.

Despite being rather heavy on the onions, I really enjoyed this dish. I served it with jasmine rice. It was fragrant and tasty.
