Old Fashioned Stack Cake
Fantastic! I am SO tired of seeing stack cake recipes that aren't true stack cakes! This one has it all, thin layers and great filling ideas. I tried it with apples and currants but as Jeanie says I'm sure most any combination would be great. I'm thinking about throwing in some mango or apricot in the next one. Easy to make but rather unfamiliar (baking on instead of in a cake pan?) to many cooks/bakers.

Slow Cooker Fruit, Nuts, and Spice Oatmeal
The number of negative reviews makes me suspect some user error because my turned out perfect. No one has mentioned 'steel cut oats' which are VERY different from whole oats or quick oats and likely part of the issue with those who had failures. Additionally, you SHOULD NOT be checking it. It's important that the water remains IN the pot not being lost to the air or a towel! That is why you can use a lesser amount of water than what is called for on the package. Once you put the ingredients in the slow cooker, it is a good idea to stir everything but if the instructions are followed and the ingredients are correct and the crockpot isn't faulty (and it's set on low) - this should be impossible to mess up.

Pumpkin Curry with Lentils and Apples
I don't even like lentils and I loved this. The entire family did. Anyone who calls it bland didn't make it properly or something. I suppose there are people out there who wouldn't like this but I don't know who they are. Even my dedicated carnivore Dad had three servings!
