Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: May 26, 2005
Our entire family has been loving this bread! Not too sweet, with a nice medium/light crumb - simple recipe just as it is! I just use my kitchenaid mixer, let it rise 1 hr., punch it down & shape it, let it rise again 15 min. and bake! (rolls are my favorite) Dough freezes superbly after 2nd rise, then pull them out anytime for baking.

Whole Wheat Bread III

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2003
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about over this recipe . . . the bread came out as described (a very dense whead bread with a bit of crunch from the cornmeal.) Probably just not my family's cup of tea. Too heavy for us.

Sunflower Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2003
Absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe to the tee, and the rolls came out perfectly! So light, yet nutritious - a perfect compliment to soups and salads. I'm a big fan of wheat/grain breads, and I really like this one because of the slight sweetness and ease of use with the bread machine. With my picky family, you have to slip in the "health" factor via grains etc, wherever you can - and they adore these (even my 3 yr. old!)

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2003
I don't have a slow-cooker, and this still turned out fantastic! My husband and picky toddler both loved it. Following reviewers' advice, I added a dash of cayenne and made 1 1/2 the recipe of sauce. Pays to take the time to trim off as much fat as possible from the meat.

Cream Cheese Mints

Just like the treats the ladies at church would bring for Christmas! Mine kept nicely for over a week in the refrigerator in a sealed container.

Slow Cooker Lentils and Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2003
My husband and toddler are such big fans - I get rave reviews for this simple, no-hassle dish! I added twice as many carrots and celery, as well as onion and a dash of cayenne. I don't have a slow-cooker, but the lowest setting on the stovetop worked just fine! Next time I'll try a little spinach and some spicier sausage.

Thanksgiving Leftover Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2002
Absolutely fabulous! I make this using meat from the Herbed Turkey Breast recipe. Also try a layer of green beans over the turkey.

Herbed Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2002
My husband never liked turkey until he tried this recipe! So simple and delicious - we also use this recipe as a basis for roasting whole chickens. Use turkey the next day for the Leftover Thanksgiving Casserole!

Banana Bread V

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2002
I've tried a lot of different banana bread recipes looking for perfection (some with sour cream or choc. chips or other fancy ingredients) - but this is by far the best one! I've never made a bad loaf yet - it has turned our perfectly every time! I add 1 tsp vanilla, omit the nuts, and bake at 335 for 50 min.
