Kohlrabi with White Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I give this a "3" as overall, it was a good recipe. I liked the texture of the kohlrabi cooked, as I have always ate it raw with a little salt, like a radish. I took others advice and cut the pepper in half and the teaspoon seemed to give it a good pepper kick. I'm not a big fan of nutmeg, so I did not enjoy this like I thought I would. I will definitely try again, but omit the nutmeg and maybe add some red pepper, and maybe thyme and basil. Thanks for giving me something new to try! I am always looking for something different.

Pike's Gooey Syrup

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
Wonderful topping over anything. Last night, I prepared a box (white)cake mix, poured the prepared gooey syrup in the middle and baked according to the box directions. I did have to bake a few minutes longer, but it turned out like an apple cinnamon coffee cake. Very Yummy! I've also poured it over cheesecake. What an easy way to spruce up box mixes if you're in a hurry. I used granny smith apples and walnuts, as that was what I had on hand. Thanks.

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2003
This recipe is wonderful. I can't get enough! I did make it the second time with 1/2 the red, white, and black peppers. I also sauteed green pepper, green onions, and mushrooms in a little butter and added to the sauce. Just adds that much more. Thank you for a great recipe.

Barbequed Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2003
These ribs are awesome. I used boneless pork ribs. I didn't have the exact ingredients, so I substituted minced garlic, light brown sugar and white distilled vinegar. I think next time I might cut down on the chili powder and the cumin in the rub, but that's just a personal preference. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. These ribs are the best!

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2003
Great muffins! I had extra banana so I doubled the recipe. I also substituted half wheat flour and half brown sugar. I added 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and 1 cup mixed walnuts and pecans (extra ingredient amounts for the double recipe). I recommend watching the baking time as they were done in my oven 1-2 minutes early.
