Mexican Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
I knew this recipe was a winner when my 10 yo daughter got excited to see a few zucchini piled on my counter. "yeah!" she said, "now we can make that yummy zucchini dish for supper". That's when i knew it was a family hit! I left out the hot peppers and added a few tsp of italian seasoning and it made it great too!

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
I made this one time and we just loved it! My husband and kids were all saying, "Mmmm" with every bite. The next time I made pancakes my kids asked for the 'ice cream syrup'! This syrup is the reason I now keep butter milk in my fridge.

Biscuit Baking Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
I tired of purchasing large boxes of the leading biscuit mix and was trying to find a cheap way to have biscuits without making from scratch every time. I made up this mix and my 14 year old son said how good my biscuits were! He didn't know that I had switched and he noticed the difference the first time I made them. They now ask me to have them made up for breakfast, which is easy to do now on a busy morning. They taste so good and are so much lighter and fluffier and have a bit of a crunch on the outside you just don't get from refrigerator biscuits. And they don't have that weird aftertaste either. I put the ingredients in my mixer with my whisk attachment and it is done quick and easy!

Sweet Dijon Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
I made the recipe but used real sugar instead of chemical sugar. It turned out great. I used it as a salad dressing at first, then chopped up a bunch of veggies and added elbow pasta and stirred in this dressing and it was fantastic!

Pumpkin Crisp

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
I make this every year. The only thing I do different is I do not make the crumble crust. I have always just spread the cake mix over the top and then drizzled the butter all over the top

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
Very easy to make and tastes exactly like what I have to pay over $6 for at the local outdoor markets! I made this and put in paper lunch bags and gave as a Christmas gift to those on my kid's paper route. It was a hit!! I also make this whenever we have a sweet tooth.

Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
Good easy and quick. Just like everyone here I add extra stuff each time depending on what I have on hand. That is why I love basic recipes like this one and gave it 5 stars! I pressure can chicken and beef roast, so this is a perfect quick meal for us... and with using my canned meat, I don't even have to take time to cook meat for it.

No-Fuss Meat Loaf

this is the perfect recipe. I nix the water however and instead use BBQ or ketchup. Adds even more flavor. I have even used sweet and sour sauce. Either way...I just use what I have in the fridge.

Vegetable Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
It is so good to find a good basic salad dressing recipe that was not just ordinary mayo. I loved this. I chopped up some hard salami from the deli as I didn't have ham, but I think I prefer the stronger taste that blended really well with the mustard based dressing. Very very good!! I did blanch the veggies a bit - just because my family likes that.

Cardamom Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
This is a fantastic recipe. I have had a lot of fun adding different things to this. So far I prefer a cup of mixed dried fruits and chopped peanuts. I began making these for my kids to eat before sporting events, but ended up having my hubby ask for more as he enjoyed them as a quick hearty breakfast before work. I even added chocolate chips by accident once not thinking about what would happen when I added the hot mixture...what a yummy accident that was! The kids liked the treat of "chocolate bars" as stirring in the heated mix melted all the chips promptly making a very yummy treat.

Sweet Potato Minestrone

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
Very inventive soup...easy to substitute or add whatever to. I found this trying to find a way to use up leftover sweetpotatoe. BTW: EASY SWEET POTATOE PEELING METHOD...Slice through the skin all the way around the potatoe at the middle. Kind of alike a sliced belt around the middle. Place in boiling water for about 20 minutes. Take one by one out and place right into a bowl of ice water. Once the skin is cool enough to touch it..pick up the potatoe at the slice and simply squeeze off the skin. Slipps right off and no peeling needed! Saves me tons of time in the kitchen when making any kind of boiled potatoe. Then you can just slice or dice for whatever dish or mash away.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
Fantastic! I have tried countless bread recipes over the past months, making a new recipe every week trying to find the right one. I have tried complicated ones where I had to melt butter to a certain temp even and those all turned out no where near as good as this recipe and this recipe was very easy!!! This is the first bread I will be able to slice and make sandwiches with. Turns out soft and wonderful and I cannot tell you how happy I am to not have to look for a recipe anymore! I divided this in half so it made a batch of buns for bbq's and 2 loaves of bread. I also add bacon bits and cheddar cheese after it has risen to make a great breakfast toast. UPDATE: I have now begun using half white flour and half fresh ground whole wheat flour. It still turns out great and most as long as you kneed long enough for the gluten to get elastic! I don't even have to add potatoe flakes or dough enhancer with this recipe. I began putting all the dry ingredients premeasured into zip lock bags. Then just proof the yeast and add bacon grease and it is ready to go.

I have made this for gifts and have brought to Christmas partys. In using it for the partys...I split the frosting up and die them green and red and drizzle over the top. Looks very festive. I find it tastes best the same day, so it has to be made and eaten.

Caramelized Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
OH MY YUMMY!!!!!! I made this in the electric skillet just like the recipe. I did everything just as directed and this is hands down the best and only way I will make wings from now until eternity! I know it is good when I look up to see my family members up to their elbows in sauce with sauce all over their faces licking fingers and asking for more!
