I am a wife and mother first and foremost. I have a little girl who will be two in May and another baby on the way. My husband and I have been married for 5 wonderful years and we're still going strong though a little more tired than we were during the honeymoon.
My favorite things to cook
I have some blood pressure issues (especially during pregnancy) so everything I cook needs to be low sodium. Recently I have been making an effort to eat low fat also.
I really enjoy making all the ingredients I can from scratch. I avoid prepared, processed, and canned ingredients wherever I can because of the high sodium content. When I make spaghetti, I always make my own tomato sauce. I always make my own salsa, cream of chicken, gravies, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Don't really have any yet but our family is still young and I hope to make some in the future.
My cooking triumphs
Probably the thing I make the best and really love is my tomato sauce. I got the recipe off of Allrecipes.com but have since modified it somewhat.
Recently I made it with green tomatoes instead of red because winter was approaching and we wanted to use up the rest of the tomatoes in our garden. It was delicious! It still tasted like tomato sauce but with some tang to it!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make my own ketchup once. I put it on meat loaf and served it to my family. My husband was very nice about it but it tasted weird, sour, and NOT at all like ketchup. It was pretty disgusting.
