Simple Beef Flavored Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2015
Perfect. I didn't use onions. I made a roux with the butter and flour then added the beef broth. Wonderful with meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2014
I made this for Thanksgiving and the family loved it! As other's suggested, I used 3/4 c. oil and 3/4 c. cinnamon apple sauce. I also used Chinese Five Spice instead of the spices. Used 3 round cake pans and then iced between layers and on top with Cream Cheese Icing. (not the sides) Beautiful cake and delicious!

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2014
I just made this and it is wonderful. The more powdered sugar used, the thinner the icing and less cream cheese taste. I only used 2 cups of powdered sugar and it was the perfect consistency for my spice cake. I didn't ice the sides, only the tops. Loved it.

Yum! Followed recipe BUT used 1 cup oats and half onion soup mix. I would use all of the soup mix next time. Very good.

Apple Betty

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2014
Easy and delicious. Followed suggestion of 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Would cover it at the end next time to prevent from over browning. Very, very good.

I have made these several times. I do use fresh garlic and double the recipe. They are wonderful. I cook mine in a hot iron skillet. Perfecto!

Poppy Seed Dressing I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
I made this with Hellman's mayonnaise instead of Miracle Whip. I added a large dollop more because it was somewhat runny with the milk. Also used Splenda in lieu of sugar. It was wonderful.

Bacon and Date Appetizer

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Wow! These were a huge hit! I substituted sliced water chestnuts for the nuts. Baked them at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, turned them and baked for an additional 10 minutes. They're even good when they've cooled as they caramelize! Delicious!

Broccoli Risotto with Cream and Lemon

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
This was wonderful. I followed the recipe with the following exceptions. I used only olive oil, omitted the cream & cheese and added diced cooked chicken. It is time consuming but worth it. The lemon makes it light and refreshing.

I make this salad all the time but use spinach instead of romaine. Can use store bought poppy seed dressing. Love it.
