Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I really hate to give a bad rating, especially when a recipe has so many 5*'s. The flavor of this recipe is good. My problem is after refrigerating 24 hrs as directed, it turned from an extremely thick dressing to thin as milk. I was so hopeful that it would have a nice dressing consistency after sitting. Especially with so many positive reviews. I've tried other blue cheese recipes from different sources and had the same result of it turning too thin after it sat. Now, why is it out of 397 reviews, as of today, only 3 other people complained that it was runny. The people that reviewed that it was too thick, could not have let it refrigerate the 24 hrs as directed. Also, how is it only 4 people had issues with it being runny. I followed this recipe as written. I really want to make my own dressing because we follow an all natural diet. I would love to find a recipe that stays creamy without being to thick or thin.

Old-Fashioned Pink Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
This is DELICIOUS! I first made this for my daughter's b-day party. It ended up being 3 quarters of a recipe because I didn't get a full 2 cups of lemon juice out of 7 lemons. It was so good the adults didn't want to share it with the kids, even though I made it for the children. I just made it for a 2nd time and since lemons aren't cheap here in MD, I decided to use bottled lemon juice like another reviewer suggested. The bottled lemon juice made it a little too tart so I decided to add an extra cup of cranberry juice. It still turned out delicious with a more reasonable expense! Much healthier than from a can that contains high fructose corn syrup.

Italian Salad Croutons

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Excellent! Easy! Didn't change a thing. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something preservative free w/o MSG, unlike the store bought ones. I'm getting ready to make more now.

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
This soup was extremely easy to make & very delicious! I had most of the ingredients on hand & the ones I didn't I was able to use substitutions without jeopardizing the flavor. I don't buy onion soup mix, but I do have Tastefully Simple Onion Onion & I used 4 tbsp to replace the soup mix. I also don't use or buy celery, so I substituted 2 tsp of celery seed. Otherwise I followed the recipe as written. My husband also agreed that it very good. I definitely plan on making this often during the colder months.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
YUM! I just made this and it was delicious. I fixed it as written and it was very simple and easy to make. I did not time how long it took to thicken, I just continued to stir until it started to boil. We ate some while it was still warm because that's how we prefer it. This is rich but not too sweet and has a flavor similar to dark chocolate. Will definitely make again.

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
I made this for dinner tonight and it was excellent. The chops marinated for about 3 hours and tasted very similar to steak. Will definitely make again.

Zucchini Provencal

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
LOVE IT! I am so happy I found this recipe when I was looking for a way to prepare some zucchini a neighbor had given me. Zucchini isn't a regular staple around here and I really didn't know what to do with it other than grilling and zucchini bread. It was excellent! I had a second helping and was picking at the leftovers while I was putting it away. I left out the green pepper because I didn't have any and added fresh mushrooms. Other than that I didn't change a thing. My husband agrees that this is definitely a keeper.

Cream of Mushroom and Soy Sauce Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
I thought this was pretty good & I would fix it again. I'm giving it 4 stars because I don't think it was 'knock you socks off'. But, it is definitely worth trying if you're locking for a easy fix dinner. I only fixed 3 pork chops because 6 would have been way too many for us. I didn't measure the brown sugar because I didn't have much left, I just sprinkled it over each side and rubbed it in. I also didn't measure the soy sauce, I just poured about 1/2 inch to 1 inch in the dish, put the chops on top after turning a few times in the sauce then covered & refrigerated for 1 hr. I did flip the chops after 1/2 an hour. Since the chops were only 1/2 inch thick & there was only 3 I only cooked them for 4 hrs on low. Which was perfect, any longer would have been too much. The chops were tender, juicy and falling apart.

Potato Bacon Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This soup is excellent. I prepared this recipe as written with 1 minor change leaving all of the flavors present. Which I don't believe really changes the recipe, just the source of a particular flavor. I don't use celery or have it on hand so I substituted the salt with celery salt, so not to add additional salt to the dish. It was perfect. Definitely adding to my collection.
