My favorite family cooking traditions
We make butter homemade in a jar every Christmas, we just put a pint of cream in a quart jar and take turns shaking it up until it becomes butter. Everyone attending must take a turn for good luck!

Pan-Seared Tilapia
I've been cooking tilapia this way for years, my sister cooked it for me once and now this is my go-to recipe for tilapia. I started using Season-all instead of salt and pepper and it adds enough flavor that you won't need the butter(not discounting the deliciousness of butter, sometimes you want to save on the calories). Try this for your fish tacos with a nice corn salsa and a side of cole slaw!!

1-2-3 Jambalaya
I love making semi-homemade meals on busy weeknights, using the Jambalaya mix is a great way to start this recipe. I always love any of the Johnsonville products so you can't go wrong there either. I like to start off by sweating off a diced bell pepper and a diced onion. I like the added flavor and texture of them in the rice. I don't believe the added Creole seasoning is necessary either. I do, however use sausage, shrimp AND chicken, but I choose boneless thighs which I cut up and cook right along with the rice mix, I toss the shrimp in when the rice is almost cooked, that way the chicken and shrimp flavors really penetrate the rice. Good easy recipe!

Sweet and Sour Pork III
This is a terrific recipe! I was craving Chinese take-out but we always regret it with all the fat and salt, so I made this and the Easy Fried Rice from this site. I love, love, love the sauce! This is perfect as written, the only thing I did different was when it came time to fry the pork I discovered I had only a bit of coconut oil, so I had to "saute" it, and since I used a non-stick skillet, I had no problem at all crisping it up. Hubs just about licked the plate clean and is now lolling back on the sofa like a lion after the kill! Thanks Pam!
