Crunchy French Toast Sticks

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
These were a resounding YES in my home. Everyone loved these. I made 1 1/2 times the recipe and they were gone in about 20 minutes. My husband said he didn't want any and then kept walking by, picking one up, and just munching on it like a granola bar. All I heard him mumble as he walked away every time was "erhmmmm, thesh ish guoud"! He did it 5 times so they must be. :)

Herbed Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
The WHOLE family raved about these! I don't like the bland 'biscuit' taste of many dumplings. These took care of that problem and were still super easy, as dumplings should be. The recipe makes plenty. A keeper for sure.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
(I'm only rating the stew since I used a different recipe for the dumplings.) However, this stew was awesome! So EASY while tasty and filling to boot! I love recipes that don't require a bunch of steps for meat prep and this definately fit the bill. This has become a permenant part of my monthly meals menu. Very good! (I used the 'Herbed Dumplings' recipe fromt his site and everyone loved it. Baking mix is a tiny bit easier for dumplings, but it is an overwhelming taste. The other version took about 3 minutes longer to prepare, and were 10 times better.)

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Every person I made this for at Christmas took the time to tell me how great is was later! I took the suggestions of others and used tomato sauce instead of paste. Delicious!

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
These were absolutely perfect! Good strong ginger flavor to compliment the molasses. And they are versatile. Regardless of how you like your molasses/spice cookies, these are for you. If you like a soft, chewy molasses cookie then make and bake them as directed. If you like a crisp 'gingersnap' kind of cookie, make them as directed, but instead of rolling in sugar, dip a glass in sugar and press flat. Same cook time, same cookie, two awesome variations! My mom likes crispy ones and my dad likes chewy. I was able to make cookies for both in only one batch...delicious!

Slow Cooker Carnitas from Old El Paso®

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
This one was a no-brainer, super-tasty, and easy as pie to make. It has gone into my weeknight dinner list...yeah for crock pots! My 9yo said "oh, oh, spicy mom!" and then munched down three tacos like there was no tomorrow. Winner!

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
DEEE-lish! Very tasty and great texture. The sour cream is a great addition for flavor and moisture. i made a double batch, one with raisins and one without so all my guests for St. Pat's Day could have their preference. All but one small wedge was gone in a snap! We all loved this bread. I was even out of caraway seeds which would have made it even better but we all loved it anyway. A definate keeper!

Creamy Strawberry Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2014
I just made these for my husband today, it is his birthday, and we loved them! Not a single change and truly tasty. If you prepped the fruit and filling the night before (assuming the filling will hold up overnight) it would actually be a quick breakfast for any day. We will definitely be trying this again.

Rosemary Chicken Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
This is fantastic! I could not stop eating it...so many yummy flavors in one place. it does have too much dressing, but only in regard to oil. Evoo goes a loooong way, so Ijust cut mine in half. I made sure that I made this the day before, mixed in the dressing and then let it sit overnight. This helped a lot as it allowed the couscous to soak up the flavor without it tasting too oily. Fresh herbs are an absolute must here!

Wonton Wrappers

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Like another suggested, make sure you roll these really thin or they end up hard instead of crispy. I think if rolled out correctly, you will end up with more like 28 or 30 wrappers.

Sun-Dried Tomato Cheesecake Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
SOOOOOOOO.....GOOD! I found this recipe in 2003 before I was a member, and I loved it. Fate was cruel and I lost the printed recipe in a drawer and then the recipe was out of sight and mind. I found it when cleaning in 2010 and the 'palate-memory' was so strong I LITERALLY started to salivate! Yum-E boys and girls. :)

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I was actually looking for a recipe that I could easily make into a non-alcoholic version, so why did I pick the one with 2 1/2 cups of rum? I liked the other proportions! I made this as directed but after cooling the tempered egg mixture I didn't add the rum. I added 2 1/2 more cups of milk (to get the volume right) along with the cream and about 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of rum flavoring. It was delicious and my kids guzzled it like water! I had to make 3 batches of this the week of Christmas...it was a hit.

Cumin Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
What a shocker! These were much better than we anticipated. Even the 9yo loved them. He is a HUGE burger fan and said these beat regular beef burgers-WOW! I didn't have any jalapenos so I had to use red pepper flakes but these were awesome. I oven-roasted some sweet peppers with a drizzle of EVOO and seasonings and we topped our burgers with pepper jack cheese, baby spinach, and the sweet roasted peppers. De-lish! We will definitely make these again.

Scalloped Potatoes III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I made these potatoes (all 10 pounds of them) for a family BBQ and it was the first empty pan on the table. They are really good and not super 'saucy'. I cut the recipe in half for at home cooking and just freeze the other half of the CoC soup.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
I had never tasted hot buttered rum before and now I wish I hadn't....because it is so awesome! This is a great recipe and makes a ton. I will put a bit more spice in it next time and I may use a couple of packets of spiced cider mix in it (recommended by a British friend) but overall it was wonderful.

Uglies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
These are a fun 'kid-friendly' food. I made my filling a bit like taco meat instead, topped with sliced olives and cheese, and the family loved them. I am taking the recommendation of another reviewer and making sausage/egg ones for quick reheated breakfasts. Awesome idea!

Wild Rice and Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
A different flavor and very tasty. It was really 'tangy' though as many stated. I cut the mayo in half and subbed sour cream for the other half. That took care of the mayo issue. The mustard was still a bit strong though. The family and I liked it enough to make it again, but I will just cut the mustard in half next time.

Uncle Bill's Sweet and Sour Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
With the exception of not having the pineapple concentrate on hand, I made no adjustments to the recipe and it was truly very tasty. The authors comments about chicken and ribs are a clue to its use however. This is a more sour sauce that is best with meat. I made this as a dipping sauce for some crab puffs we made and it was not a good fit. We keep small 6 oz. cans of pineapple juice in our liquor cabinet so I used one of those and therefore needed a bit extra cornstarch. Next time I make this for anything not 'meat glaze' based, I will drop the vinegar to 1/2 C, 1/4 water, and use extra pineapple juice for the other liquid.
