Rice Pudding V

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
I followed the directions, but did not use a double boiler. The receipe turned out fine in exactly the time specified. The result was good, but not remarkable. A fine standard rice pudding.

Sweet Potato Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
It was good, but not outstanding. I made this pie and a regular pecan pie at Thanksgiving and everyone preferred the traditional pecan. I had no trouble with the recipe being too much filling for my pie plate, but it was a full sized plate and not a disposable aluminum one.

Tabbouleh III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2012
This was excellent. On a whim I substituted pearl barley (real stuff, not quick cooking) for the bulgur and it was great. Also added 4 oz of feta. This was delish and I will make again. Even the kids ate it.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
This was quite good. My kids are picky eaters and they all enjoyed this. My son even asked for seconds (which is really rare). I made it with boneless skinless chicken breast and it came out fine. I will make this again.

Pecan Breaded Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
I liked this and would try it again. I was in a hurry so I didn't pan fry instead I baked them on a sheet at 400 from 10 min or so each side. Next time I would take the time to pan fry and chop my nuts a little finer.

Quick Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
This is a good starting place for veg soup. I added a clove of fresh garlic during the saute stage. I did not use beef broth, just water, and seasoned with salt, pepper, bay, oregano, basil, and a little red pepper. I also added the onion just halved and fished it out at the end after simmering 2 hours or so. I omitted cabbage and zuchini as I didn't have these in the house, but would try at another time. The result was a very tasty soup that would prolly take well to sausage or chicken or other add ins like pasta or potato. I made a double batch for freezing and I would make this again.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2012
Good! Tastes just like the expensive store bought imported mix I had been buying. My picky kids ate it all up. I omitted the flour/breadcrumbs and it was just fine.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Well, I tried this in the crock pot as one reviewer suggested and got mixed results. I don't know if my flour clumped or if my cream curdled, but the result was almost like egg drop. My onion was large and I think over powered in the crock pot. In all it wasn't a bad soup, but not spectacular. I may try this again in the traditional preparation.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Well, I just wasn't over the moon with these bars. The bake time seemed too long and my bars burned a bit around the edges. Burnt raisins are bad. Also, I don't know how you would need to slice these up to get a yeild of 24 ... Taste wise they were just not a stand out. My son was the only one in the house interested in eating them.
