I love cooking! I started backing when I was 9 or 10 and made those no-bake chocolate/oatmeal/peanut butter drops on waxed paper. I used to love gourmet cooking before the kids came along. They're so picky! Ilove browsing stores like Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn and cooking type stores.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! My family definitely has a sweet tooth. I like making soups in the winter, and I've just started making my own creations. I used to make everything with a cookbook, but now I don't rely on them so much -- except when I bake!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a breakfast dish that I put together Christmas Eve and pop in the oven Christmas morning. It's a french toast recipe from an exclusive Inn. It has chopped pecans on top and really puffs up beautifully in the oven. The whole house smells great as we open our Christmas presents in the morning.
Also I love to bake Christmas cookies. A tradition I have with my daughters ever since they were little is to bake gingerbread girls and boys. They love to decorate them with assorted candies and icing. They are little works of art and we always leave some for Santa and his reindeer.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving dinner I prepared when I was first married. Everything, including the turkey, was perfect. Martha Stewart had nothing on me!
My cooking tragedies
I attempted to make stuffed grape leaves one day. I don't know what happened but it was disasterous and I ended up pitching everything into the trash and didn't tell anyone about it.
