About this Cook
I began to love cooking when I was nine years old and made chocolate chip cookies from scratch with my best friend. From then on I took on many of the cooking responsibilities in my own home and began teaching myself everything I could from cook books and from trial and error. I'm now 22 and living with my boyfriend. Because of his allergies and Celiac disease my interest has shifted to healthier ways of cooking but my passion remains just as strong. Whenever I feel stressed or even bored, nothing makes me feel more at peace and fulfilled than trying out a brand new recipe.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a vegetarian so anything with fresh, yummy veggies that brings out their unique flavor appeals to me! I do love baking, though now I can only bake gluten free, and I always like tasting and cooking anything new or that I've never tried before.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom doesn't really like to cook but when she does she makes lots of awesome British dishes and traditional Jewish meals. Right now I am making new traditions with my own little family!
My cooking triumphs
My recent triumphs include my very first organic/whole food Thanksgiving. All the dishes were a big success and most of them I came up with on my own.
My cooking tragedies
Among many tragedies my favorite is my very first baking disaster, a jelly roll cake filled with lumps of unstirred flour and jelly oozing out everywhere from when I was about 12.

Fresh Broccoli Salad
One of my all time favorite picnic foods! I could eat this stuff everyday and be happy (exaggerating)! For anyone who has never tried this awesome way to eat broccoli, this is a must!

Perfect Sushi Rice
Very reliable ratio of sugar to vinegar. I make my rice in a rice cooker and I never bother with the oil, I don't think it adds anything but fat. I don't add the salt either, the nori and soy sauce for dipping give plenty of that!

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie
This came out very yummy! A little bit on the heavy side but I would make it again as a once in a while sort of dish.
