Buckeye Bash - 2013

“The Story”

1.      The date:  June 15th – at high noon

2.      The place:  New Albany, Ohio

3.      The cast of characters (and I do mean characters [lol]):  sassyold lady and her DH arrived first, followed in quick secession by Mike and his DW, Carrie and her DH and bellepepper and her DH.  They were welcomed with great joy by midwestchef and her hard-working DH, and of course, moi.

4.      The food (the stars of the show):  spinach dip in a bread bowl, baked beans and pecan pies brought by sassy; party mix and sugar-free cherry pie from Mike (Linda made the pie); German potato salad and zucchini brownies from Carrie; and last, but first on the palate, was “Redneck Caviar” with ‘scoops’ brought by bellepepper.

5.      mwchef had fixed meat-falling-of-the-bone ribs, bbq beef, fruit salad and assorted crudité items with dips.

6.      The drinks:  White wine fruit sangria, iced tea with lemonade ice cubes, and various ‘byob’ beverages.

7.      The plot:  Eat, drink, talk, laugh; eat, talk, laugh; then eat, drink, talk and laugh some more.  Then walk around to make room for the scrumptious desserts.

8.      It was so nice to get to meet these peeps and learn more about them and their lives.  I’m glad mwchef invited me to this shindig.

9.      She got some nice loot out of the deal:  from Carrie – the cutest fold-up tote bag  with AR orange kitchen utensils; a blue, hand knitted neck scarf from Mike’s Linda; a white Gerbera daisy from Paulette and a green rosemary plant from bellepepper.  [I thought she might share the tote and the scarf with me, but NOT!  I can’t have the plants since they wouldn’t travel well in my suit case.]

10.  So, a good time was had by all –[ they are hoping that mother anne might consider having them all to a Bash in her Mexican restaurant!  Wouldn’t that be cool???]  Arrivederci, ya’ll!!

P.S.  midwestchef will be adding pictures when she recovers from all the festivities!

Chef Luigi graciously forgot to mention the pickled eggs - they were under cooked...yucky IMHO. Everyone else was kind enough to ignore them, as well!
Jun. 16, 2013 9:38 am
I should have said "my" pickled eggs...
Jun. 16, 2013 9:41 am
What fun! Wish I could have been there :)
Jun. 16, 2013 9:51 am
So do we, wish you were here!!
Jun. 16, 2013 9:53 am
Oops, I messed up on the Gerbera daisy gift - not sure who brought that to mwc; sassy said it wasn't from her!
Jun. 16, 2013 9:56 am
And I forgot to say that I hogged the limelight yesterday - kept that pesky Chef Juan Carlos in the shadows for the most part.
Jun. 16, 2013 9:56 am
...and I loved the midwestchefs' dogs!
Jun. 16, 2013 10:10 am
I know you all had a great time - so bummed for me but happy you could gather!!!
Jun. 16, 2013 10:22 am

So glad to hear that you all had a great time!
Jun. 16, 2013 1:46 pm
We really did - almost 6 hours of non-stop fun.
Jun. 16, 2013 1:57 pm
We did have a super great time! And there was enough food to feed an army! We had a blast! But then, I knew we would! Ok, so now I'm ready for the next one! And mwc, I was the one who brought you the Gerbera daisy!
Jun. 16, 2013 5:15 pm
Thanks, belle - sassy said it wasn't her! I'll do my best not to kill it.
Jun. 16, 2013 5:47 pm
Thank you for being there, Louigi! Traveling so much, as you do, can make a person feel grouchy. Didn't do that to you though! Now, did you let mwc sleep in this morning and prepare breakfast for her and her hard working hubby?
Jun. 16, 2013 7:08 pm
He did let us sleep in, but he did not fix breakfast! He's packed up and ready to head out in the morning. "Hasta la vista" says Juan Carlos!

What a great blog. I have totally enjoyed reading all about this round up and looking at all the pictures. Just wonderful.

Well chef, first let me welcome you back to the AR scene. We have missed you terribly. I hope your hiatus is over and you'll be traveling again. We so love to hear about your adventures. Your comeback couldn't have been more timely than flying in for an AR Roundup! I'll just bet everyone was delighted to meet you and get to know you. After all, you ARE a famous chef! Now, tell us....... What is Bellepepper really like? She's so stinking cute, we just have to know!
