You can read about my first day at Mrs. Paula's in Mississippi here.
I've had a fun (but tiring) time following her around this week. Most days she either went to the hospital with her granddaughter or babysat baby brother at his house. So I got a break from cooking and, instead, spent my time entertaining little ones.
Here is my week's stay at Mrs. Paula's in pictures:
How do you do, Miss Ava? I am so glad to meet you.
What???? No, that wasn't me!!!
She and her Papa think I should have used my ladle to serve out the chili tonight.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where Miss Ava goes for treatment every day.
I met Ava's baby brother. He really likes feeding his puppy dog.
Mrs. Paula made this very impressive dessert one
night. She wouldn't even let me help!
A new toy Mrs. Paula bought this week, but she hasn't even had a chance to unpack it!
My last night with this family was spent at a fundraiser for Miss Ava. It was a wonderful time to see the community come
together for a very good cause.
Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Shop donated a portion of its proceeds Monday night to Ava's family.
An amazing number of people showed up to show strong support for this family.
Miss Ava's cousin wearing her Pray for Ava t-shirt.
Friends piling up together on bean bag chairs, eating frozen yogurt, and watching The Lorax movie. Such a fun time!
Well, I will soon be on my way to Texas, but I will never forget my time in Mississippi. I made a new little friend who will forever be on my heart and in my prayers. I can't wait to see you next
year, Sweet Ava, when you will be in kindergarten and playing with friends rather than going to the hospital every day.
