I arrive at laughingmagpie's house on Friday afternoon, magpie is at work but Mr. LMP gives me a good welcome. He is working out in the form yard when I arrive and boy I am happy to be a chef. When magpie arrives home, I find out it is Mr LMP's Birthday and they have plans for dinner out. I wish Mr LMP a happy birthday and say I am happy to have dinner with the kids. The kids are 24, 22 and 17 we have steak dinner and we talk about music, movies and stuff.

Saturday morning magpie and I go into the wine shop, magpie is excited to show me some of the BC wines available. One of her favourite BC wineries is Road 13, the owner used to live on the Island and were business associates of Mr LMP. Magpie tells me British Columbia is noted as a region that produces good wines from the Pinot family, and Pinot Blanc is becoming the flagship grape of the province. She show me one of her favourites from Hester Creek Winery, then we look at a new Italian wine in the shop and magpie ask if I know this wine, Tedeschi Soave Classico. I know this wine well, magpie say they have it at wine class and it was a big hit. We decide to buy a wine to take home, I want to ttry the Pinot Blanc, magpie wants the Soave, we flip a coin and magpie wins, but she buy both bottles.

Next we go into the resort to look around. Magpie introduces me to Chef Tom, he and I hit it off right away and exchange recipes. Then we go to the diningroom and I see a view like no where else, this is indeed a gem of an Island. Magpie orders some oysters on the half shell and we have some of the Hester Creek Pinot Blanc with them. Mama mia, that is good eats...

After our snack, magpie asks if I can help her study for wine class. I am happy to do so, then I see the big picture of my dear Italia and I get a little sick for home. We start talking about the wines and foods of Italia and I start to feel a little better.. After we study for a while it is time to go home.

Magpie says Kris is having friends over and we make tacos for them. Then the Canucks are playing and Magpie says we will watch them. I ask what is a Canuck and what music do they play. Magpie laughs and Mr LMP explains the game of hockey to me and that the Canucks are the favourite team in the house... I watch the game with magpie and family and learn. Wow Canadians are nuts for this game but I get caught in the excitement and start to yell when the puck go in the net too.

Sunday, magpie says we have to work again but then we have wine class at night. I am excited to go.

LOL, hockey is a religion. We are enjpying the world's longest game right now-10 straight days of hockey played 24 hours/day as a fundraiser for cancer.

:) sure Celeste, just pick a team, I have a Bruins fan (he's cheered for Bruins since he could walk, way before they won the cup) and 2 Flames fans, so I cheer for whoever they are playing against
