Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
Good but not stellar. Would use this recipe again but will still be in search of THE perfect BNB recipe.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
Delicious! Baked it (we don't have a microwave) and did the bread crumbs/parmesan on top and it was perfect! Everyone raved about it. :)

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
Excellent apple pie! I've actually made it twice, the first time exactly according to the recipe and it came out very runny (but delicious!). The second time I made this pie I added 1 tablespoon of corn starch to the water and it turned very nicely. One other difference is that the first time I used LIGHT brown sugar and the second time I used DARK brown sugar. I definitely prefer the taste with the light brown sugar and will make sure to use that type again next time. Also, I've always made apple pie with cinnamon but I have to say that I didn't miss it in this recipe and I wouldn't add it. :)

The Best Unbaked Cherry Cheesecake Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
The taste was delicious, but it never fully set up for me (despite keeping it in the fridge for three days before serving it). It was a mess to serve. Most no-bake cheesecakes call for lemon juice but this one didn't. I wonder if that made a difference?

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
Delicious! Loved these! Just right on the crunch/chewy factor. They don't freeze well after baked, however (they tasted fine but ended up really soft).

Asian-American Slaw With Peanuts and Jalapenos

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
Delicious! I followed the recipe almost exactly EXCEPT I used creamy peanut butter (I didn't have crunchy on hand) and I halved the amount of regular soy sauce used (if it was low-sodium I would have used the entire amount requested). I also used part sesame oil and part olive oil (as the sesame oil was super strong). I took this coleslaw to a beach picnic and received rave reviews! :)

Fresh Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
excellent! the taste was very, very good but there are a few things that need some tweaking. first, i agree with another reviewer that the egg whites should be beaten right before adding them in. also, once i inverted the cake i noticed that the topping was quite soupy so i followed another reviewer's recommendation to broil the top a bit to firm things up. otherwise this is an excellent recipe and it's going in my recipe box! p.s. i served this at a birthday party and there were compliments all around! :) p.s. don't forget when making this with fresh pineapple that you will need to buy pineapple juice as well! i was so used to making a PUDC with canned pineapple (where you don't have to buy the juice because it's already with the pineapple) that i forgot to buy some! i ended up using apricot juice and nobody was the wiser. ;)

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
it was difficult for me to decide whether to make this recipe (ranked #2) or the #1 recipe (banana sour cream bread) but in the end i decided on this one (the other seemed to have such high rankings after lots of tweaking). the only changes i made were to use room temp butter (not melted) and to mash the bananas rather than slice them. the batter was delicious so i'm assuming that the bread will be, too! i will update after they're done. P.S. i forgot to mention that i doubled the recipe to make 2 loaves. :)

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
so far so good! the dough has been made and it is currently in the fridge chilling. i did take other reviewers' advice and i upped the sugar and vanilla. i will be back to update! :) UPDATE> what a disappointment. with a name like "the best rolled sugar cookies" and such good reviews i was very optimistic about this recipe. despite adding LOTS of extra flour after chilling (and trying to knead it a bit as recommended by another reviewer) the dough was still SUPER sticky and very difficult to work with. the taste was good but nothing exceptional. i'm going back to my own rolled sugar cookie recipe as it is far superior to this one. sorry.

Pumpkin Cake III

fabulous pumpkin cake! deserving of its 5-star rating. i followed the recipe exactly except i used a bundt pan (which requires a longer baking time). this is going in my recipe box and i WILL be making this again!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
i halved the recipe because we were only 7 adults. i was very impressed with this recipe. it tasted just as good (if not better!) than the box stuff. ;) i actually used my rice cooker rather than the slow cooker because my slow cooker was holding the turkey. i have to say, it was tasty AND fast in the rice cooker! two thumbs up.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
good, chocolatey frosting. the trick is to whip the heck out of it (otherwise it's more like a ganache). i would have probably given it five stars but i think it's a little too sugary (grainy? even though i used powdered sugar and sifted all ingredients) and i personally prefer the chocolate cream cheese frosting on this site (for me it's 5-star all the way!). also, i had to add a little extra milk to get it the consistency that i was wanting.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
i've pre-made this for tomorrow (thanksgiving). i bought fresh green beans, snapped & steamed them. i browned the onion as well as two cloves of garlic in butter and then set them to the side as i made the "gravy." i added the full amount of salt and sugar as fresh green beans are not already salty like canned ones. after making the gravy i added in the already browned onions & garlic and then greek yogurt (rather than sour cream... i live in italy and we don't have sour cream, greek yogurt tastes pretty much just like it though). after mixing everything together i actually mixed the cheese (provolone and mozzarella as we don't have cheddar) together with the green beans (as per previous reviewers recommendations). i topped it all off with the ritz (we CAN get those in italy!)/butter combo and popped it in the fridge until tomorrow. i can already tell that this is going to be GOOD! i will follow-up after tomorrow's feast! :)

Banana Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
i have this cake in the oven as i'm typing this. based just on the batter i can tell that this is going to be a GOOD banana cake. i will update as soon as it has been taste tested! update> it was FAB! a true banana CAKE (not like a banana bread) and loved by all at the event. I actually frosted it with fresh whipped cream and it was devoured in a matter of minutes! this is going into my recipe box! thank you for a wonderful recipe. :)

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
WARNING> do not use this recipe for cupcakes! H.O.L.Y C.O.W. what a disaster! in 25+ years of baking i've never made such a mess! i followed the recipe exactly with the exception of using 1 cup of hot coffee rather than hot water. my mistake? because i was wanting big fluffy tops on my cupcakes i followed the advice of one of the other reviewers and filled my liners 3/4 of the way full. BAD IDEA! bad, bad, BAD! everything ended up overflowing and i had to throw the entire batch (12 cupcakes) out! and i'll have lots of pan (& oven scrubbing!) to do. next, i tried to fill them 1/2 full (as i usually do with other recipes) and i just checked and even those are overflowing! what the heck?!? if i ever make this recipe again i will NOT make it for cupcakes. i have to admit that the taste (of what i could scrape off of my cupcake pan) was very good though. too bad it didn't work out for me. :(

very good. i followed everything exactly except for the butter extract which i couldn't seem to find. i will make this again! oh, i almost forgot... i used a bundt pan for nicer presentation at a dinner party (it turned our great, it just took a little longer to bake).
