About this Cook
I love to cook, and I love to eat. Homestyle, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Greek--it's all good. Kind of a dangerous combination, actually. :) My husband is a wonderful cook as well.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts, especially cookies and cakes, or anything baked. As far as dinner goes, I generally prefer to cook "homestyle" (although I love to *eat* all kinds of cuisine); my husband tends to do the ethnic cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year, around the end of the year, my husband's family gets together for "game night." We stay up playing board and card games all night, but the best part is the appetizers and desserts we make and eat, after obsessing for two months about what they will be. :)
My cooking triumphs
Though I tend to rely on recipes, my best cooking really happens when I just wing it in the kitchen. I also do a good job of taking something very simple, like a baked potato, and doing it *perfectly*. You might say I'm a little obsessed. :)
My cooking tragedies
TNTC, seriously. Parents, if you love your children, teach them how to cook. The spatula/pan/stove you save may be your own. :)

Creamy Chocolate Frosting
LOVED this frosting. I didn't have to add as much liquid as it called for, likely because the day was very humid.

Chicken and Red Bell Pepper Salad Sandwiches
If I hadn't read the reviews, I wouldn't have tried this. I'm so glad I did! It hasn't even had a chance to get cold yet, but I already had a sandwich, and it's very good. I do think I will add a little garlic and a bit more mayo or sour cream. My cream was expired, so I used a bit of fat-free half-and-half (didn't think of sour cream till it was too late), and it's good. I'm using light mayo as well, and it's still very tasty. I'm so tempted to have another sandwich.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews
Very, very good. This dish had a wonderfully Asian flair. The sauce was so tasty that next time, I'll thicken it a bit so that it sticks to the broccoli more.
