Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
Yay.....an easy peasy recipe for doughnuts! These are just as yummy as raised doughnuts without the fussiness of yeast. My entire family and I enjoyed them on a snowy day together. Great with chocolate glaze, too! A definite 5 star recipe!!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
Beyond addicting!! I had my girls mix up 1/2 a batch to "test" them and by the next day we were whipping up a full batch. They are terrific!! I didn't have any wheat germ but I used a generous portion of freshly ground soft winter wheat for my flour. It was sooooooo good! Thank you :).

Terrific!! Great Christmas cookie that everyone loves and looks very elaborate but is easy to make. We will definitely be making this each year. We did use the mint Oreos, too!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
Thank you for this recipe!! It was easy to use and my girls loved decorating sugar cookie pumpkins for Thanksgiving. I added extra milk and corn syrup but it was no biggie. Just added until consistency looked right to me.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
WOWZA! These were terrific! I made them for Easter dinner and everyone loved them! I did make some changes based on previous recommendations...doubled the crust and used 3/4 cup lemon juice with 1 3/4 cup sugar. I did bake them in a 350 degree oven. I grew up with frosting on lemon bars and found this one: 2 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 c. butter, 1 tsp. vanilla & 1 1/2 Tb milk. Whipped together and frosted the bars after they were chilled. Did I mention that I wanted to eat every last one?! Thank you for a great recipe!

Chicken Salad With Thai-Flavored Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
I really like this author and highly recommend her cook books!! This recipe lacked a little something in the dressing but it would be worth playing around with.

Brown Rice Black Bean Burrito

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
This was fantastic!!! My husband and I both loved it! I had some leftover cooked hamburger meat and plain brown rice I used in the recipe and it was great! It was frugal but didn't taste like it at all. You could also add cooked chicken or pork or just plain keep it vegetarian...we will use this monthly from now on!!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This is one dandy of a cheesecake!! I made this for our family for Easter and had a request for the recipe. I thought that batter itself was delightful - and it's a good thing I did because it wasn't done. I baked it in a water bath for the recommended 45 minutes than left the oven door cracked open for another 45 minutes but it wasn't done enough and was all "soupy" in the middle. Since I don't have enough experience baking cheesecakes, I will read up on how to tell if it's done or not. I would highly recommend this recipe but to the novice, I encourage them to find out about how to tell when cheesecakes are done but you must make this recipe!! The flavor is scrumptious!!!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
I love this recipe and so does everyone I make it for! I have used this countless times to make meals for those in need, new babies, sick friends, etc and everyone loves, loves it! I follow the recipe exactly and one thing I use for sure is Busch's brand of chili beans...the best for this recipe! Thank you so much...I have probably made it at least 50 times!!!!!!!!!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
Wowza these are good!! I cut back on the brown sugar by 1/4 cup, decreased the chocolate chips to 1 1/2 cups and decreased the vanilla by 1 tsp. and they were GREAT! Next time, I will try following the original recipe and see if there is that much of a difference...I am not sure why I felt the need to try the changes before I made the "original" recipe. This is my favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies..thank you!!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
These brownies are great if you are looking for a fudge-like consistency. If you prefer a cake-like brownie, I don't think you would like this recipe as much. I took these to a church dinner and had mixed reviews based on the consistency.

Best Breakfast Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
Great cookie and it stays very moist! It is very similar to the Baker's Breakfast Cookie. I omitted the apricots and added 1/2 cup chocolate chips and they were great. I will make them again this week but use whole wheat flour and some cocoa powder.
