Can a whole ham be cooked in a electric roaster and be moist? Also when first placed in the roaster, should I add orange juice to the bottom of the roaster? Thank you
My favorite things to cook
Old Family Mexican recipes taught to me by my Godmother/Aunt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We had mexican food for the holidays. We would get together and make a few hundred tamales at a time. Sounds like overboard, but very large family. Tamales are alot of work and since we were going to make them we had to make enough for family to take home also. I have been learning since I was 7 years
(I am 50) old and maybe one day I will be as good as my Aunt.
My cooking triumphs
After my aunt passed, I decided I would try and use the skills and recipes I learned and have the traditional Mexican food for the holidays and see what everyone thought. I didn't realize how many family memberswould say it tasted like my aunts and also how many critics we have in the family. Criticism is good it helped me try even harder and see everyone enjoy what I learned from my aunt. Best of all I loved the time and memories I made with my aunt.
My cooking tragedies
Of course not knowing exactly what I was doing when I was first married, but did not want my husband to know I only knew how to cook for a small army and not just two people. 10 people between mom and dad and seven kids. He would come home and we had so much food he always thought someone was coming over for dinner. Not even knowing how to fry foods. His mom fried and cooked him separate meals because he was sooo picky. My family because of it's size used the oven alot. Rarely ate fried foods. Alot of smokey days in the kitchen.
