About this Cook
The main reason I love to cook, and eat for that matter, is because grew up in a family (9 people!) where cooking quality, tasty foods was of utter importance.
My favorite things to cook
Baking breads, cookies and desserts is my favorite thing to create and consume. Cooking from scratch is important to me, as well as to cook and bake using a variety of recipes. I am not really known as the adventurous type, except when it comes to cooking. I will cooking anything once.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up in the Midwest, mealtime was usually a meat and potatoes kind of deal-stick to your ribs meal. Now, I love making sandwiches, stir frys, salads, grilling and experimenting with as many new recipes as possible. Every week I choose a different kind of bread to make for my family. Now living on the west coast, I love the fresh berries and other fruits available in the summertime.
My cooking triumphs
As a little girl, I remember my Hungarian born grandmother sharing homemade bread with me. It was always my goal to have home spun breads at home. For many years I struggled to recreate the light, tasty, oven kissed breads grandma had made. After much trial and error, my skills are now up to par with grandma's, or at least getting close.

Creamy Pesto Pasta Salad with Chicken, Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes
Very good, used grilled chicken and added chunks of Mozzarella. I did not add the asparagus or artichokes and used my own pesto.
