Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2015
This is the only recipe I use for ham and potato soup. Only thing I've done over the years is to add some frozen whole kernel corn and I never peel the skin off of those beautiful red potatoes I use. We always make a double batch and it never makes it to the freezer.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2015
First let me say our whole family thinks this is the best chili ever. Made it several times as per recipe then I made these small changes that seemed to make a positive difference. The additions are a can of quality diced tomatoes and I take one can of red kidney beans and puree them in my small Ninja. It adds an amazing creaminess to the recipe. Thanks so much for sharing!

Fried Chicken Gizzards

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
Its alot like the way I do them. Two words people, pressure cooker! Not sure what that par-boiling is all about. Drain them, pat dry and fry them. Mine you can cut with a fork, I kid you not. Try it you will be amazed, and you will wonder, what was I doing.

Bread and Butter Pickles II

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
These pickles have turned out to be a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that they are the best bread and butter pickle I have ever tasted, by far. The curse being that we made several batches and gave them as Christmas gifts. Everyone loves them! Now everyone wants more. Just joking about the curse but tickled that they were so well received. Used the recipe and made several batches with just pickles alone. Did'nt have a bowl big enough so used the cooler idea, cut down on the salt and let the batches soak overnight. After several batches I found that placing 4-5 trays of ice cubes on top of the soaking pickles and covering the trays with a old bath towel kept the ice solid and did'nt dilute the recipe. Make sure they are well rinsed, take the time it makes a difference. Also make sure you use a quality cooler. We will no longer add the tumeric as it leaves a odd settlement in the bottom of the jars and adds a funky color. Just a little advise after the water bath. When the jars have cooled to the point where they can be handled safely, unscrew the band and give everything a good rinse as the sugary mixture tends to glue the bands on once everything dries. Thanks for sharing David!

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
This is a great recipe just as written. I have tried several others but this is the one I will use as my go to pizza sauce. Made it several times and have cut the tomato paste in half which works great because I always double the sauce so no need to store a half used can. Also I add basil, onion powder and brown sugar. Then I brown up the garlic in some olive oil, throw everything together and simmer for about half an hour. Its really good!

Not overly fond of this recipe. Assembled and followed through just as instructed but it just was'nt anything I will try again. The eggs almost seemed watery on the plate.

This was outstanding! Pretty much stuck to the recipe except used all regular whole kernel canned corn undrained. Also used brown rice because thats what I had on hand and used my own home made salsa on top. We all loved it and will certainly make again. Thanks nmm!

Southern Fried Chicken Gizzards

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
Very tender and delicious. Great way to tenderize what is usually a very chewy protein. My wife suggested pressure cooking them next time which seems like a great idea. They seemed a bit salty for my taste, I think the next time we will cut the salt in half, eliminate the italian seasoning and dip them in the fish breading mix we use. Thanks for sharing.

Bacon Mushroom Swiss Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
First let me say I love meatloaf! Hot, cold, morning, noon or night. But this recipe just did'nt do it for me. Not that it was bad, it just was not something that appealed to me. Don't believe I will try this one again. But it was worth a shot.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This is the best corn dog recipe we have tried so far. Instead of adding the milk substitute it with cream style corn. Then I keep a tall glass full of the batter and just dip the dog right down in it. Also before dipping I roll the dog in corn starch first, this helps keep the batter on the dog. Were not big on deep fried foods but this recipe will make me pull the deep fryer off the shelf anytime. I'll put these corn dogs up against any fair food anytime!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This is so simple and easy to make. We have make this twice now and the only thing I added was some extra mushrooms. Also make certain you use the Golden Mushroom soup instead of the Cream of Mushroom. Trust me we have tried both versions. Also double the recipe as the leftovers are wonderful. It goes great over toast or noodles. Thanks for sharing.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
Killer cakes! I was so excited to try these that the first time I made them I forgot to add the eggs, and they were still incredible. After the addition of all ingredients I have to say these are by all means the best pancakes we have ever tasted and trust me we are pancake people. Don"t waste your time with a single batch, double it or triple it. And don"t get shook about how thick the batter is, gently spread it out once its on the griddle. All other pancake recipes are childs play compared this one. **After using this recipes dozens of times now, I have started making nothing but a triple batch. The only changes I have made are the addition of a half cup of 7-up and using King Arthur AP flour. They are fluffy and amazing! We use the same recipe with waffles and just add a bit more butter.

Barbara's Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
This is outstanding! Went a little heavy on the jalapenos, minced garlic and also added worcestershire. I cooked it down quite a while to get the consistency I was looking for and then after it cooled I pureed the daylights out of it. FYI I save the empty ketchup squeeze bottles and reuse them for my homemade sauces.
