Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This was excellent! I roasted my squash first to simplify things, added a green apple, and a touch of curry powder. As many others suggested, I added a dollop of sour cream when eating the soup which really kicked up the flavour. I didn't have any celery so it was omitted. Will be my go-to butternut squash soup recipe from now on!

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed this! The weather didn't cooperate for a BBQ so I tried one reviewer's suggestion to throw it all in a big pot and simmer for an hour. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!! I will definitely try this again, grilling next time, weather permitting. Other than grilling, I followed the recipe to a T - wouldn't change a thing!

Thai Red Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
I really wish I could have been more generous but all things said, this recipe was a bit blah. Not the punch of authentic flavour I had hoped for. I followed the recipe to a T but before serving, I tasted it and found it severely lacking in flavour. I tried to add some fish sauce, some ginger and some salt but nothing could be done. If I had had a lime, I think the acidity would of benefited the dish but alas, I didn't. And as others have mentioned, the cornstarch was not necessary and threw off the texture. My husband and I are big fans of Gang Garee Gai so I was looking for a similar dish to make at home but this was not it. I'm pretty sure it will not get a repeat performance in my kitchen.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
This was excellent! I made 2 small changes: I used 2 cans of soup and used roasted onion cream cheese from the local bagel shop... DELISH! Highly recommended, would definitely do this next time company is coming.

Pork Tenderloin with Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
This was delicious with a few modifications. Baked at 450 for 30 minutes basting with sauce then further reduced sauce and added flour for thickness. Was extremely tender and moist. Highly recommended!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
I ate this all week and still enjoy it! My grocery store was out of hashbrowns so I used Tater Tots instead. They disintegrated but the flavor was still great!

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
I was really disappointed with this recipe after reading all the rave reviews. It's not often a recipe with such good ratings lets me down but I have to say, I agree with some of the more negative posts: bland, greasy, blah... definitely not a keeper. I followed most of the recipe but added a potato and fried the kielbasa as others suggested. This was really missing a punch of flavor that is usually present in german food. Try Gramma Jeanette's Cabbage instead and add some cooked kielbasa for a better result!

Amazing! Definitely a 5-star recipe. I was very doubtful but my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. Give it a try, you'll love it!
