Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
Wow. Such simple ingredients and a great taste! Giving four stars because I did modify the recipe a bit as per others' comments. Did 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup honey and 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp garlic salt. I used Madras curry powder (I'm Indian myself) dijon mustard, and I didn't make a whole chicken, I used chicken tenders. Baking time was 30 min uncovered, 15 min covered. Then the chicken was still a bit watery, I transferred the chicken and the drippings into a pan and fried it until the water dried up and the chicken was a bit browned on both sides. Superb. I do feel like the recipe is missing a tang, perhaps the next time I make it I'll sprinkle some lemon juice on top. As far as the curry flavor, I felt like the honey and mustard gave most of the flavor and the curry was a smoky backdrop.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2012
Definitely a solid recipe. Tastes very similar to pillsbury's devil's food mix without the chemicals and such! It is missing the pudding flavor though. It's a basic chocolate cake. I didn't find it out of the world - maybe I should use hot coffee instead of boiling water next time! Also I tried the icing recipe and it did not come out well for me, but the cake was good.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
Good recipe, really fully pancakes! However the order of ingredients is wrong. It will lead to the butter separating and lumps. Here's what I did: Mix sugar and softened butter until creamy. Add the egg and I added vanilla extract. Then add some of the dry ingredients so that the batter doesn't separate when you add the milk. I sifted the flour also. Then add the rest of the milk and then the rest of the dry. No lumps or separation!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
This is my second review of the recipe, after having it not come out so many times I finally decided to try the recipe on marshmallow jar itself; it was SO much better. Look up the recipe for "fantasy fudge". I think the problem is that these instructions call for the marshmallow cream to be cooked with everything, then you add the chocolate. This causes the mixture to seize up and become hard to work with, it also ruins the texture (crumbly and greasy). The marshmallow jar instructions call for the marshmallow cream to be added LAST (after the chocolate)! If you do try this recipe, add the marshmallow cream last, and as I stated in my previous review, do not use ghirardelli chocolate chips (use nestle)!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
Awesome! Icing is great as well. Next time I will only make half the recipe though, the full amount of dough is hard to manage. Followed the recipe without the bread machine like the most helpful review said, came out great. Only thing is that I think 4 1/2 cups of flour is too much, the dough became a little dry and I had to add more milk to fix it. Edit: when I made half the dough was not dry! Also I just had some Cinnabon a few days ago, this recipe is much better than the real thing! The only thing I miss is the makara cinnamon. If only I could get my hands on that!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
Great recipe! Texture is amazing, chocolate flavor is great, and I didn't think it was too sweet. Even better the next day when they get a little more solid, pop it in the microwave, and it melts in your mouth. Yum. I usually make half the recipe and use a 8x8 pan. Usually takes less than 30 min to cook through. I check mine with a toothpick. Half is plenty enough for 3 people.

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
finicky recipe! the first time I made it, it came out great. I cant remember if I subbed the shortening for butter. maybe that's why. the second time I made it, it was good but not as good as I remembered the first time. third time I tried it, I cut the recipe in half and it came out horribly, literally had to toss it in the trash! all I can say is that I'd rather try a recipe that is more reliable and a little less dependent on the steps. also the 1st time I tried it, I tried to follow the icing recipe and it was a disaster! this recipe isn't exactly healthy either. it's better to stay away and try a different recipe instead.

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
great basic recipe! the onions add a nice sweet taste and the flour and egg make this very hearty and enough to eat by itself! some tips for better taste: definitely add seasoning in the mix before cooking and add anything you think might taste good. i found creole seasoning went well. cook in small patties. i tried making a large one and didn't come out as well. im going to try shredding the onion as well next time for better distribution and try to use less oil! but great recipe!

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
these come out great. instead of margarine I used regular butter (salted) and it still comes out good. another time I didn't have maple syrup and just skipped that and it still was a good snickerdoodle cookie recipe! these are extremely sweet though I have to say. if you want them to be less sweet especially when you're using the maple syrup cut out some of the sugar but not too much.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Butter needs to be UNSALTED please indicate this in the recipe! Other than that the recipe was good but when I used regular butter it came to be waaaay to salty. Next time I make this I will use unsalted butter.
